Curtis, Gomes,Gordon and Gibbs-white were all so good in the u21s euros and now they are not eligible for the youth teams. Isn’t it sensible to give any of them a callup atleast against malta or north macedonia rather than calling up players with no gametime? Also Gordon is performing way better than rashford.

There’s a theory Southgate wants to win EURO 2024 and then quit on a high so isn’t doing any groundwork for beyond that.

But even if that was true, there are some older selections in the squad who aren’t better than the younger players coming through in the here and now.

Don’t think there’ll be a penalty shoot out. And he isn’t better at penalties than Kane so no reason to include him.

While the rest will do them a world of good so in a sense I’m relieved. But Longstaff, Willock & Gordon have been robbed by pensioners in Saudi & bench warmers ffs.

I’d be surprised if anyone new comes into the squad for the euros. I can only see James, Shaw and Chilwell being included. Maybe Sterling if Rashford form persists.

I’d be livid if I was JWP or Gordon

Pleased for Johnstone but lack of Pope is baffling when Ramsdale isn’t playing regularly.

Throw Maguire into the mix too when there’s probably other defenders playing regularly/better than him. Nice to see Tomori in the squad after people saying he wasn’t getting picked because he wasn’t playing in the Prem. Not sure if Henderson still being picked has anything to do with it.

Is Palmer really playing that well? All the online hype around his recent stats is completely ignoring all his Chelsea goals have come from penalties.

He’s been arguably Chelsea’s best player in every single game he’s played in, oozes talent and confidence. I’d just like to see him release the ball sooner every so often, but the mentality of “give me the ball I’m gonna make something happen” is sorely needed in the team so I’m happy to overlook that for a bit

Tbf until recently Lewis Dunk and Brighton could have filled those gaps. I think his performances have justified that reaction.

If Man City signed Dunk and banished him to the reserves for a season, he’d be starting for England. The sad fact is that being associated with a “big 6” team is just far more valuable to Southgate.

If you’re gonna play some who usually don’t get a chance can you at least mix it up with some of the usual starters.

Throwing 11 players in who’ve never played together isn’t really a fair representation of what they potentially could offer

Can’t imagine being English and seeing Henderson as a legit regular call up. I know we called up Krychowiak from the same shithole, but we have 3 straight thinking midfielders at best. Having England’s talent pool and going for the captain of Al Ettifaq is just pathetic.

I don’t even want Raheem Sitting in the squad because I think we have better alternatives in his position with the likes of Saka, Foden, Rashford & Grealish but I feel so bad for him. Kalvin Phillips & Harry Maguire still get picked for England even though their club form has been terrible or non existent for the last 2 years and the angle Southgate fans are using and I assume is Southgate’s thinking aswell is that they are his loyal soldiers, who’s done very well for him in the past and since the Euros is likely to be his last tournament, he wants to one last dance with his crew. The problem is that Sterling has been England’s best player for his entire tenure aside from Harry Kane and we all know how he powered England through the group stage at Euro 2020. How does he not get credit in the bank and get viewed by Southgate as one of his loyal soldiers when Kalvin Phillips and Harry Maguire get selected even though they barely play and are deemed surplus to requirements at club level ???

It just seems wrong doesn’t it.

There’s an article on Sky Sports about it which says he hasn’t played for England since the France QF at the World Cup. They suggest the relationship broke after Sterling left camp to go back home after the robbery.

Its a shame if that is the case.
