You are right, that is an unpopular opinion.

The M8 is a great car, but the 911 is hand-down the better option when looking at the entire ownership experience.

IMHO, I feel like before you develop an opinion about a car, you should at least drive them.

Nobody that has driven these two automobiles thinks this.

The M8 starts off with a compromised premise - 4 seats. If you’re gonna get serious about performance, why have extra seats that might not be filled most of the time and an unnecessarily large footprint of a car?

I actually think the variant of the 8 series that makes the most sense is the 840i with the straight 6. Creamy, fast enough and comfortable.

The 911 is built from the ground up to be a much more serious car. The occasion of driving one won’t leave your mind as easily as it will in the M8.

I used to have an M8C GC, it is honestly one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned, however, I’ve also driven a 911 turbo S, and they are just not comparable at all. 911 is way smoother on both handling and power delivery. The M8C is an incredibly fast car for the price (I was consistently hitting high tens in a quarter mile with launch control) but I would not put it in the same league as a 911 turbo S

The performance figures compared to the 911 Turbo are laughable.

It’s a good looking car, but aside from opinionated preferences, it’s not a better car than the Porsche.
