yeah man, imma spend whole ass console prices on a first gen platform high end CPU, great idea.
im sure all the people that got a 1900x are really happy with how AMD fucked them over on upgradability.
K
And the 7800x3D is $369.
currently $358 on Amazon
I paid 369 in September
Actually on Newegg I got the cpu for about 310$. They had combo discount plus I added some promo for this stupid zip pay. Zip111 is the code took a solid 100$ off my build and is weekly payments. I never do payments but it was stupid the finance charge is 5$ but to outright buy without the promo was 80$ more. I feel like I finally got a decent deal. I think the 7800x3d should be more in the mid 3s normally but the costs of them nowadays is crazy.
Guess I know how I’m spending my next weekend time to update thee ole 5800X3D platform to a shiny new 7800X3D😅
Just did the same exact thing. My order comes in today lol
What your gpu
7900xtx
$299 if there is a micro center near you.
EDIT nvm it’s $349 now
and is the better pic in all cases outside of heavily multithreaded workloads
And if you’re doing heavy multithreaded workloads, 7950X or 7950X3D is what you want.
Nice.
And is better for gaming
Because AMD doesn’t use brain
What
bought mine for $260 on hardwareswap
5800x3D is 290$
Was $239 earlier this week on Ali express for their sale
Is it the original brand though?
I would never buy a western brand on aliexpress. Only Chinese brands. Are chips on sold on aliexpress legitimate?
Depends on the shop you buy from, but yes. The CPU is working in my PC just fine 👍
Your mobo recognizes it as a legitimate CPU?
Buying a cpu on ali express 🤣
$60 cheaper for a working product. Easy choice, anytime 👏
Aliexpress is the best place to buy cpus honestly
Is it the original brand though?
LoL for a second i thought AMD had a change of mind and actually priced their GPUs correctly, a 7900XT for 433 would be quite a good deal and at 650 without black friday sales.
7900X3D is such a weird chip with its only 6 cores CCD expanded cache…
Worse than cheaper 7800X3D at gaming.
Worse than pricier 7950X at productivity.
What’s the niche?
5950X is $434
Dang, that’s a good deal for a workstation.
Trying some PBO settings on a 7800x3D, 90 level 2 (90c cap, -20 all core offset) is actually slightly slower than 70 level 2 (70c cap, -20 all core offset) in CPU benchmarks. Using an AK620 but with a very relaxed (quiet) fan curve. It was just as good or slightly better in single core or multicore tests.
All while drawing 20 watts, or 62.85 watts max during the test on an air cooler. Even in Cinebench testing it doesn’t hit 100W. I swear, these chips are magic. I probably didn’t need the AK620, but it was on sale along with the CPU/board and it performs as good as a D15 and is quiet. Plus it was super easy to mount compared to my old spring screw 212 evo.
If you are looking to upgrade and see a good CPU/board bundle, grab one. The performance and efficiency while being so fast is remarkable.
The 7800x3D is a very interesting chip (and the best for gaming, by a notable amount): when I set my system up with an AK620 the default fan curve in BIOS had the CPU fans going at 1800RPM. But with negligible impact on temps, as these chips are designed to run hotter for clock speed. I put the fan curve to like 30% and tested a few games like far cry 6…same high FPS, no throttling, same behavior. At 1800RPM, the game was at like 50-60C. At 900RPM, the game was at 50-60C. Initially I thought “whoa, I somehow screwed up mounting this cooler even with 2 screws and a simple mount kit”, but it’s intended behavior for these CPUs.
So if you grab one and you are used to intel chips, be mindful of fan curves: default fan curves in BIOS are for CPUs that have much different fan behaviors! And the 7800x3D doesn’t even draw much power, under 100W and outperforming a 14700K that can draw 300W…my GPU doesn’t even draw 300W in most cases!
I’d rather they make a 5950X3D. But I suspect it might be coming.
its crazy how gpu prices are making everything else fall in price
That’s not what’s going on. GPU isn’t influencing the other prices.
CPU pricing is very competitive because Intel basically always keeps their prices + inflation, so when Zen 3 was priced higher, 12th gen was priced lower, when Zen 4 still priced higher, 13th gen was still priced lower. AMD tries to move pricing up and Intel keeps anchoring it back down, and then it ends up being them in a price war with sales. Even when Bulldozer was a disaster Intel didn’t break change their pricing, this pricing scheme goes back over a decade.
GPU pricing is ridiculous because Nvidia loves it’s profit margins and sets them high, and AMD simply joins in, slightly lower but usually with worth performance and certainly worse features, so Nvidia and customers don’t care.
Then you have memory and storage prices tanking because DDR5 is now mature and there has been an glut, too much NAND produced when demand pulled back, leading to very good prices as manufacturers take losses.
lol…its not that deep, the price of a asus strix 4080 is the same price of the MSRP on a 4090 rn…its just simple supply and demand, GPU prices have a large impact on what the average consumer can afford…anyways its a good time to buy everything other than a gpu right now.
Yeah the reality is that people are going to buy NV pretty much no matter what these days. Their lead at this point is like, 80%+ of the market…AMD is thus not really in competition with NV; they’re more in competition with Intel, if anything. With the rumors lately that AMD is going to release a single midrange card next Gen and that is all, it’s kind of hard to blame NV at this point…when the “competition” doesn’t even try anymore, you just charge whatever the market will bare. I fully expect the 50 series, especially the ~5070s and up, to be even more expensive than the 40 series is for this reason, and guess what? People will still buy them so…🤷♂️
AMD can undercut the hell out of NV, but it just results in Nvidia shrugging, dropping like 10% higher to where AMDs prices are, and gamers thank AMD then buy the NV card.
Ah here I was thinking the holiday shopping season was the cause for all these sales…silly me.
definitely plays a part, just thought it was interesting as i have been monitoring prices, that the price of a full build really hasn’t changed much despite a 4090 for example going up 400$, everything else has gone down in response
Me waiting for the 5800x3d to drop from $430 CAD this week 😭
It was $370 end of last week at both Canada Computers and for a short window on Amazon. Sorry you missed it. Hopefully tomorrow it comes down.
It did not come down.on the Friday. If I am lucky Monday for cyber sales. But crazy it went on sale for $370 the week before black Friday. Seems almost to be done on purpose.
I got mine a while back for $180 using gift cards and coupons.
After tax or?
Before
How?
Had a gift card I couldn’t use. Amazon gave me extra money if I bought gift cards online.
So I bought a few gift cards up to the amount and it gave me a bunch of money, and boom. $180 5800x3d.
Edit: and it was on sale for $280
I can’t find any deals here in Aus, still sells for $549 AUD :( :(
amazon ships from america for free 520 takes like 2 weeks, but probs better to pay an extra 20 bucks to get now
I know, I even have prime so should be easy and painless. I may do it if the price goes down, I see the 5800x3d at $526 which is still above my budget.
lowest i seen in aus was 500 on amazon day
It’s been lower, 460, 470 but I wasn’t ready to buy.
Bought mine last month from Amazon for $461
That would be an insta buy right now, just hoping to see some deals this weekend.
Most prices on Ebay are marked up to $649 so they can pretend to offer a 20% discount, when in reality it’s something like $20 off.
I’m refreshing ozbargain and staticice constantly now lol
Why not go AM5? You can buy 7800x3d + tomahawk b650 for $820 in Australia atm(sale). Add some ram for 150 and you’ll be good. Yes it’ll cost double but you’d be buying into a platform that’ll be supported for another 2 generations.
I’m looking to replace the CPU only, I don’t have the budget for more than this
I already run a higher end b550 motherboard and B die RAM.
7800X3D is a better deal
And a better CPU for gaming. And let’s be real if you’re getting an X3D processor, you’re probably gaming.
3D chips are prone to failure, I wouldn’t touch them.
you’re yet not aware this was a software problem and one of overmarketed shite motherboards. cough especiallyasus cough
