Even the announcers are bashing the officiating in this Texans Jags game.

“Eh idk I don’t see anything there” (on a drive extending defensive holding call where the CB doesn’t even touch him; TLaw throws up his hands though and then they throw it)

“That’s about the first one I agree with.” (Jags finally get a penalty)

“It’s these type of plays that have to get really frustrating as a player, as a coach” (replaying a missed false start on the Jags that even Demeco could see from the sideline)

I was going to make a comment earlier about that game. absolutely frustrating to watch, even as a neutral observer.

The TV crew even went back to a play before to point out the blatantly missed Jacksonville false start, after that terrible string of defensive penalties against Houston.

between the college and NFL this weekend, there’s been a lot of terrible officiating. like, worse than the normal bad-bad.

Followed up with some more garbage officiating in the Eagles Bills. Missed horsecollar tackle on Allen, Slay getting away with full on tackling guys and obvious jersey tugs before the ball even gets there, even one pretty obvious shoulder check to the face of a defenseless receiver.

I’ve seen so many ticky tacky jersey tugs that ultimately don’t end up affecting the route get called this season its easy to see why people think ref favoritism is going on here, especially juxtaposed with the phantom holds in that Jags game. There were multiple no-calls where the refs are staring directly at the play during the replay, while the announcers are basically just like “How can they keep getting away with this? It’s you can’t do that”.

I think the Eagles had one accepted penalty against them by the fourth quarter. It was absolute madness. Then the refs even call back a potential game sealing fumble despite the receiver securing it and clearly taking two steps before losing the ball.

Bills have gotten so many ticky-tack grounding penalties this year. But they would be in a much better position if they stopped with all the other penalties…

grounding calls have been more common this year, and often they’re called in bizarre plays that go against what the spirit of the rule is.

that grounding call on Allen today was a great example of how fucked officiating is: Allen got horse collar tackled, and tried to throw it away. the refs called for IG, totally ignoring the horse collar that caused the “foul.” then MFing Gene Steratore (sp? WC) comes on to explain why the IG call was legit (which is fine), “so although they unfortunately missed the horse collar, now you have an intentional grounding.”

dude, just do the right thing! the IG occurred because the defense was breaking the rules and caused it to happen! change the damn rules to (I say this hesitantly) give the officials ability to use discernment to fix these obvious, egregious missed calls that affect the outcomes. when everybody sees the obvious foul/whatever, just fix it, use the damn tech at your disposal, (lose the ego), and FIX THAT SHIT.

They definitely got shafted on that late hit on Herbert. Especially with the subsequent unnecessary roughness call against them.
