Shame, really. I, for one, am up in arms about a ref making a bad call which truly fucks a club over. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer club/fanbase at the moment.

Simple solution, make all outfield players play while wearing straightjackets?

The refs career should be over. Can’t make this decision (with all the tools ha had) and ref again.

So, I may be entirely wrong here, but I thought it’s only considered a handball if intent can be reasonably presumed (or you’re doing something wildly stupid with your arms, the ball hits them and drastically changes direction etc)?

As I say, I could be totally wrong with that, but I don’t see how this would count as a handball if I’m not. Definite contact with the forearm, but zero chance of intent or even ability to expect it, really.

Scandalous decision. If you allow this to be a pen, pretty soon you are going to have attackers purposely trying to lift the ball into the hands of defenders from point blank range to win pens. Completely goes against the spirit and integrity of the game and just plain common sense. Common sense isn’t so common I suppose…
