Oil companies are astroturfing hard right now. Battery manufacturing is making a huge dent in oil demand.

Cheap batteries combined with IGBT inverter technology basically enable intermittent energy sources like wind and solar to be stored efficiently and at very low costs then sold at a premium when electricity demand is high.

EV batteries tend to outlast the vehicles they’re put into, so if EV production ramps up the market will get flooded with cheap used batteries that can be repurposed for grid storage. Natural gas can’t compete with that on price.

It’s hilarious that in a thread about disinformation, there are folks spreading disinformation lol

Oil demand is up year over year.

The amount of EVs on the road barely registers on the demand for oil.

Oil is used in the production of damn near every product on earth including EVs.

Those big oil companies, have been investing in clean energy for 30 years now. They don’t care either way because they get money from clean energy and oil demand won’t disappear even if EVs are the dominate tech.

Will EV tech eventually impact oil companies? Yes, of course it will, but we are not even remotely close to that reality yet.

Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor. It’s essentially a cheaper way to handle high voltages.

Previous technology was commodity only up to around 200V.

IGBTs are still used frequently in power electronics. Not sure what this person is going on about. They are cheap off the shelf components that are very durable and robust… Except when they are not, but that’s usually because of bad engineering around it.

Love how they all have the same format/font

IMPACT font with Yellow/White lettering in ALL CAPS.

Looks like they all stem from the same account/source.

Also they all have the same headlines “IT’S OVER!”, “GAME CHANGER”, “NO MORE EVS!”, “WE HAD NO CHOICE!”, or some variations of these. Try searching for ammonia engine on YouTube and there are countless examples.

What is the ammonia engine? I’m hearing about it a lot in the past days.
First it was hydrogen, then solid state battery, now this?

It’s bullshit is what it is.

Hydrogen combustion can never work in a passenger vehicle, and ammonia doesn’t really solve the worst problems with that.

Toyota is just flailing around promising all kinds of crazy technology to try and keep people interested in them.

I recommend BlockTube for browsing Youtube. A few “Block channel” clicks and all the clickbait/misinformation/disinformation channels are gone from your search results.

I was thinking about this just this morning. It’s not that the whole internet is stricken with bad signal-to-noise ratios. It’s just content aggregators, which people ruin by competing for profit by chasing virality.

Example: cleantechnica, electrek, insideevs, thedriven, etc.

Like it or not, for or against, the EV space is rife with clickbait and poor content designed to push a narrative for clicks.

The algorithm is intense. I clicked on one poor guys ‘I’m dying of cancer’ video and next thing my recommended videos list is a litany of horrible tragedy.

The youtube ev misinformation is unhinged though. You’d think that you could barely walk down the street for exploding evs and if your ev doesnt explode, which it definately will, it can never be charged because every public charger is broken all the time, and they depreciate at $100 per minute, and the battery will only last 25 minutes and a replacement will have to be personally couriered to you by African slave children at a cost of 5 times more than the new car costs.

It’s got to be organised, some channels literally posting bad faith nonsense scare stories about evs every single day.
