Damm, she’s had a rough run. It’s tough dealing with mental health and personal issues for anyone, but I imagine it’s a lot harder as a public figure.

Yeah. She hasn’t really done herself any favours. Though that said, how she’s being treated by the opposition and the media is vastly different (i.e. horribly) to how politicians on the right have been treated (i.e. with kid gloves) when they have mental health issues. Muller, for example. I find the whole thing disgusting really.

I hope she’ll be ok. I hate to say it but if self-harm or suicide results from this, I wouldn’t be surprised. She’s obviously in a really low spot. I really hope that doesn’t happen, but if it does, I hope those in opposition and in the media who are being so gleeful about her downfall (and all those trolling about it on the other website) do some serious self-reflection. But they won’t.

Uhh, what? The opposition have barely mentioned it apart from saying she made the right decision to resign, the media have been reasonably kind.

She doesn’t seem to be being treated any worse than Muller at all.

Most of her personal issues seem to stem from the way she behaves towards people around her though.

I mean yes, but also no. Self regulation and impulse control are both things you need solid executive functioning for, and if you’re dealing with mental illness that may take up a good amount of your ability to respond well to things. There’s a good chance that the behavior arose from the mental health condition.

Which does not excuse the behavior - she was in a position of power and responsibility and has failed to behave as she should in that role. If she couldn’t keep it together to behave professionally to her staff or exercise the basic common sense it would have taken to call an uber then she should have stayed on leave. But it’s pretty obvious her judgement has become quite clouded.

There’s also the stage three cancer diagnosis and treatment, just to throw it in there, and honestly who knows what triggered the breakdown on Sunday evening?

As everyone says it doesn’t excuse the alleged behaviour, nor the decisions (whoever’s ultimate responsibility it was) to press on with a job as stressful as a Ministerial position when she mightn’t have been in a necessary frame of mind. As far as explaining it, though, I’m sure all this crappy stuff adds up between herself and those around her.

I hope she finds a less stressful and more rewarding way to contribute somehow when the time allows.

    resisting arrest

I’m going to assume a “do you know who I am?” was deployed at some point.

I was heading here to post this, but someone’s already here.

Bloody hell, what a piece of work. Gets called out on her bullying BS, takes “stress leave”, and then not only drink driving but refuses to cooperate with police?

Man, the Greens really know how to pick em, don’t they?
