Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law on Monday legislation banning gender reassignment both as a medical procedure and in official identity documents.

The law, passed unanimously by the Russian parliament, is intended to “prevent the degeneration of Russian children and adults” but is alarming the LGBT community. It will ban all medical procedures, both surgical and medicinal, for gender reassignment in Russia.

Only medical interventions to treat congenital abnormalities, including genetic and endocrine disorders associated with incorrect genital formation in children, will be allowed, following the decision of an expert committee.

Lol I don’t think I could actually do it. Learning languages is super hard. Even if I managed to do it in like 5 years probably wouldn’t be worth it. I’m only now approaching a decent level of fluency in mandarin after like 6+ years. Enough to shoot the shit with coworkers in mandarin. I can just move to bone fuck nowhere America and get a similar experience. Just fly to Russia once a year or something. I’ll be pretty close to Russia next year around Febuary. I might stop by. If I apply for a visa now it will probably be approved in time.
