Disagreeing with your manager about what best to do on the pitch and how much effort you’re putting in only really works if you’re consistently playing well. Sancho has never looked anything above average in a united shirt, under 3 managers. If you want to go against what the manager wants you have to be a proven top player with good will in the bank. Sancho doesn’t.
Perhaps I misread but there’s nothing that says he disagrees with what the manager thinks is best to do. The manager wasn’t picking him for a game so expected him to mimic a teams style in a practice session, the disagreement is whether or not he pressed enough in that session which they couldn’t agree on even watching a video back.
Can’t say (unless you see the video) who was right, but if you watch a video and disagree still then it’s unlikely you’ll back down. Especially with the point being Sancho thought other people were worse in training and didn’t face the same treatment.
The real failing is on United all round, can’t see any individual part that shouldn’t have done better.
Now they’re stuck with a player who the manager won’t play until he gets an apology that isn’t coming, on wages he’s never justified even without the bonuses and they’re unlikely to get rid without paying something themselves. Though judging by how they tried to handle the Greenwood incident, there’s no expectation for them handling issues with competency.
Life really has come fast for him.
When he was signed he was seen as one of the jewels in the English crown. Excellent performances in Germany, German pundits baffled that Southgate wasn’t starting him ahead of the likes of Foden and Saka, massive salary, £73m price tag and a boat load of promise.
Fast-forward now and he’s basically just a rotted husk of what he was. Never performs when he plays (or rarely), has a piss poor attitude, just fallen out with his manager, dropped from the England squad because he never properly trains, suspended from actual first-team football because of the falling out with his manager and now just fucking around on EA Sports FC at 01:00 in the morning.
What a fall from grace.
I wonder if he hit that point that so many young men hit where they go from being able to eat whatever they want, drink, barely sleep, and still run around with endless energy to suddenly feeling tired and putting on the weight. Happened to most of us in our 20s where all of a sudden our physical fitness depends on our lifestyle choices.
Sancho was a shit trainer all the way back in Dortmund too
Yeah he looks way off it physically. He doesn’t look like he has a body like Rooney say where he looked heavy but was strong, Sancho just looks heavy.
Regardless of what I think of Ten Hag as a coach, he’s already shown he doesn’t mind letting you back into his team if you work hard
We saw it with AWB, United fans were even calling him amazing at one point
We’re seeing it with Maguire, yes it’s because of an injury crisis but he’s kept his head down and honestly has been playing quite well recently
Even Mctominay somehow seems to be getting played
It’s all on Sancho imo
McTominay is generally good player, but is often misused, and can’t find a place in team playing tenhagball. But I’ve never seen him bitch about not being picked. He’s always keeping his head down and do what he’s paid for. Sancho is behaving like a diva, but you can’t be a diva when you don’t even play in starting 11. You are rotation player, accept it or begone.
A £73m rotation player. United transfer strategy W
Even Mctominay somehow seems to be getting played
United were struggling to score and McTominay is a goal machine for the national team. Right now for United his positives outweigh his negatives.
The new Fellaini
Shocked former captain and 85 mil centerback can have 3 decent games in a row.
Agree with what you say for the most part but it’s not “somehow” for McTominay - the guy does have good physical attributes and is a fighter who works hard, and honestly I’ll take that every day of the week over lazy world-class haircut merchants who inject more shit into their arse than Kanye’s ex-wife
Of course we call him amazing, he is Spider-Wan.
Bang on. He’s a disciplinarian and while he’s strict with his standards if you show contrition and work hard, he’s happy to bring you back.
You cited Maguire, AWB and McTominay - All seem to be playing better now under Ten Hag after time out as other players were performing better. I’ll also toss in when he did the same thing with Garnacho (criticised him as not training to the required standard which is why he was dropped) and Rashford (dropped him to the bench for a game last season for oversleeping and arriving late at a team meeting, Rashford accepted it and when the Boss sent him on he tore the game up).
You’ve also got what happened with Ronaldo, he gave him every opportunity and it got tossed in his face, so they cut him loose. Arguably one of the top 2-3 players on the planet for the last 15 years, and the boss told him to not let the door hit him in the arse on his way out. It’s back to the days of “noone is bigger than the club” and Sancho right now is suffering the consequences of his own actions.
Hell, if he was like Eden Hazard where he trained like shit but was golden during matches, he’d probably get away with it. But he doesn’t.
Mctominay would suit Spurs/Liverpool in their 433
Mctominay isn’t getting in the team as a CM or AM with Macca, Szobo, Jones, Gravenberch, and Elliot all ahead of him
Spurs are probably the same
W liverpool fan take
everyone can see that sancho is making an ass of himself here
none of us know if it’s truly worth it or not, there’s always the possibility that ETH crossed a line for sancho and there’s no going back - we probably all have our irrational lines - but we can all see that he has a clear opportunity at united and it’s there for the taking
i grew up with SAF dominating the PL and i love an underdog, i dont want united to succeed anymore in my lifetime. but watching a young, talented england international throw his reputation and a full year of his prime away is just a bit sad all things considered
hopefully he turns it around with a change of scenery, some players just aren’t cut out for the intense scrutiny of being at a historically great PL club
Such a weird hill to die on especially over such a nothing comment from the manager
I Just hope He doesnt end in SA. Would love it if bvb, utd and sancho could find a sollution
Unfortunately I can’t imagine the price coming down enough for him to come back to BVB. Only way I could see it is if its a loan because ManU think maybe he can catch fire there again so they can sell him to somebody else.
I defended Sancho pretty hard and while I don’t find ETH endearing at all, it’s hard not to admit at this point that he’s right.
Sancho you fucking moron, what could of been…
He’s only 23. Who knows, two years from now he could be absolutely tearing it up somewhere.
I’m loving how hard this guy flopped after his transfer saga from Dortmund and how smug United fans were when they got him.
Sancho probably thought he could outlast Ten Hag but with the recent turn around in Man U’s form this seems unlikely.
There are also some United staff members who believe Sancho could have been handled differently. He responds to warmer management and they feel private cajoling and encouragement may have kept him onside, although they accept they are not the ones in Ten Hag’s position.
I might eat my words but I think we’ll look back on this and the consensus will be that ETH failed to man-manage Sancho by being too strict. Not everyone can conform to the same requirements, I believe that’s where top-tier managers really earn their money. Sancho is unquestionably talented and I don’t think ETH is the kind of manager that can properly unlock that potential. Might be the case with all or most of his managers.
You’ve gotten downvoted but i see your point. However ETH was also the one who gave him a 3 month off for his mental and physical health. I think he fells let down after all he did for Sancho
Sancho is worse than Ravel Morrison in my book. At least Ravel had the decency to throw away his talent before becoming a big time Charlie.
But seriously, wtf is wrong with Sancho? He’s throwing his career away. Every team in the future will take this behavior as a negative to signing him.
I always forget how young these guys actually are. I 100% would’ve been that stubborn at his age. Likely he’s gonna look back on the damage he’s doing to his career later on and regret this period
Iono. I think MU should just term the contract. i’m sure sancho would be ok finding a deal on a free.
whats losing 30-40m to the glaziers. they have billions. it would likely make the team spirit better without the distraction.
Even if Sancho has nothing to back up his attitude, Antony is clearly the teacher’s pet at United. Even Garnacho offers more in most games and if everyone can see it back home, I am sure some players at the club can as well.
Antony has performed better than Sancho. Antony lacks end product but so has Sancho who has done a worse job at scoring and creating than Antony. And Antony at least works hard off the ball and presses diligently unlike Sancho who doesn’t even put in the bare minimum work rate.
Garnacho plays much better off the left than off the right so he’s in direct competition with Rashford rather than Antony. Also Garnacho still performs much better as an impact sub and doesn’t have the same impact on games when starting.
Bruh they play on different wings
Does Antony’s left foot even come in to the game? I’ve seen ETH sub on Garnacho to play on the right or move Rashford there.
Think you mean right and no, not really.
It’s not so much that he’s the teacher’s pet as it is that he’s the best of a bad bunch for that position.
Sancho offers nothing on the pitch for United. Can’t score, can’t assist, can’t dribble, can’t pass under pressure, can’t cross, can’t get in behind, can’t track back, can’t keep the team shape, can’t pull defenders out of position, can’t press, can’t win the ball back. Antony, at least, does some of those things all of the time, even though his end-product has been beyond laughable for a player with his massive price tag.
Garanacho will probably take Antony’s spot if he keeps going at his current trajectory, but he’s still very raw and doesn’t appear quite ready to be a starter week in and week out. His good games are remarkable, but his bad games are extremely bad. Once he raises his floor, he will start.
