Neuer:
Manuel Neuer on his comeback: “I’m very happy, the happiest I’ve ever been after a game. I was positively excited. Not nervous, but somewhat curious at what would happen. I was really happy to be back in the Allianz Arena, to play in front of the fans and to be on the pitch with the team.” [@SkySportDE]
Neuer on whether he thought about retirement after his injury: “Absolutely not. There were ups and downs, but I always had the will to return. I managed it well with everyone here at the club. The mental aspect of whether it will happen again or not: I always believed in that, and so did our doctors and experts”
Neuer on the rhythm and playing many games in a short term after his return: “We’ll see. We’ll meet on Monday at Säbener and plan the week as normal. I’m trying to regenerate and continue to focus on the next tasks ahead”
Manuel Neuer on next week’s game against Dortmund: “We’re playing in Dortmund, so it’s obviously one of the most important games for us players and for our fans. I think the international football community will be watching the game and I want to go into it at peak fitness” [@Bundesliga_EN]
Tuchel:
Thomas Tuchel: “Crazy first half against a very good opponent. We were down to 10 men very early on. We had problems in transition, then all of a sudden we were 10v10, then more players on the pitch, we had difficulties adapting to that. The half time break did us good to regroup and find responses. We had many chances and scored a lot of goals in the second half. Overall we deserved the win and we’ll keep going”
Tuchel on Manuel Neuer: “Manuel always thinks a couple of steps ahead, we can see that in training, the way he also coaches his teammates on the pitch. He adapts to every situation, knows when we have to change something and always gives feedback. That was what we needed today when we were down a man but also when we were a man up. He played very well and made a big save in the first half. Keeping a clean sheet straight away was very important”
Tuchel on replacing Kimmich against Dortmund: “I haven’t thought about that yet because we have a cup game in between. Obviously it’s very unfortunate because he’s one of our key players, and he’s someone who really wants to be in that kind of game to make the difference. We’ll have to find a solution, but first we have to beat Saarbrücken in the cup. We’ll go step by step”
Kane:
Harry Kane on whether both Bayern and Tottenham can win the league title this season: “We’ll see. There’s still a long way to go. But of course I’m always keeping an eye on what’s happening in England. We’re top, Tottenham are top, things are looking pretty good so far” [@itstheicebird]
Harry Kane : “Scoring a hat-trick is always a great feeling for a striker. But thanks go to my teammates who created many chances for me. Of course the ball gets a special place. Me and everyone else are very happy that Manuel is back. He gives us great security and leads the way – he is one of the best goalkeepers in history.” [fcb]
Harry Kane on his hat-trick: “This was a nice hat-trick, a couple of nice goals in there. Credit to the team. I’ve said before, with these players around me, I know I’m going to get chances. I’ve just got to make sure I’m in the right place at the right time” [via @MirrorFootball]
Harry Kane on his halfway line goal: “I saw the goalkeeper in the corner of my eye in a strange position - I think we were 5-0 up at the time so I thought why not have a shot, and as it was in the air, I was just praying for it to dip below the bar. Thankfully it did”
Freund:
Christoph Freund on Kimmich’s red card: “Of course it’s bitter. But everyone makes mistakes, mistakes are part of football. He played so many good games, the team also won for him today.” [Sky]
Christoph Freund on Thomas Müller’s future: “I would like to state that I’ve been at this club for 8 weeks, Thomas Müller has been at FC Bayern for the last 10-12 years. He is a very important part of the team. We will have talks over the next few weeks, but it also depends on Thomas’ future planning”
Christoph Freund on whether Florian Wirtz is a transfer target for him: “That’s not our topic at the moment. We have a very good team and players who are developing really well. We would like to extend with them and keep the team together. We’ll see what piece of the puzzle we’re still missing. Florian Wirtz is a very good player, but we also have very good players here.”
Christoph Freund on Mazraoui/Peretz: “There are discussions – with Nous and the team. The topic is very sensitive and very important. There are also conversations between Daniel and Nous. You can see what football can achieve. The boys talk to each other in this difficult situation and that is important. Bayern Munich is aware of its responsibility. The boys want to impress with their football – together. We are also in contact with the fans. Everyone has their own opinion and makes up their own minds”
Laimer:
Konrad Laimer: “In the first half we didn’t really manage to generate pressure. But we showed a very good reaction in the second half. We play man-to-man up front and showed our quality. I’m really happy that Manu is fit again after such a long period of suffering and I’m looking forward to hopefully many more games with him.”
Kimmich:
Kimmich on his red card: “Mehlem speculated well on my contact. At first I pulled him a bit, but he kept running. When he then fell, there was no longer any contact, I was not responsible for his fall. But it definitely was my own fault because I lost the ball in the first place. It was a very stupid and bitter red card and I’m annoyed that I’ll miss the Dortmund game”
Matthäus:
Lothar Matthäus criticizes Kimmich following his red card: “He has to play the ball first. He wants to dribble as a #6, but you don’t dribble in these defensive areas. We learn in the U12s, at least in my U12s, that you don’t dribble in defensive areas. You run with the ball into the open space and pass or play a long ball” [Sky]
Thanks for consolidating all of this!
Kimmich on his red card: "Mehlem speculated well on my contact. At first I pulled him a bit, but he kept running. When he then fell, there was no longer any contact, I was not responsible for his fall.
I just looked at the replay, and it looks like he might be right. Kimmich let go of Mehlem before they entered the box - maybe it’s just the camera angle, but I can’t see any contact that would cause Mehlem to fall.
It doesn’t matter if the foul was technically a big one or not for the red. Kimmich was the last man, and it was enough to give a free kick, so that makes it automatically a red in this scenario.
Yep, it was exaggerated, but it was a foul and the DOGSO decision was correct. All 3 DOGSO calls were spot on.
Agreed, especially within the first 5 minutes this was a rather hard decision. But then again all red cards were unreasonable if you ask me….
Thank you for providing the Post-Match Statements Jules!
Love getting this extra insight from everyone at the club.
I’m really excited Manu is back, he just has a presence about him that will help the team.
Thanks OP!
