    I bet all you want could be features of a yet to be seen “iMac Pro”, but that would cost more. If you buy a new iMac, you’re not a sucker, you just want an expensive thing.

    Personally, I wouldn’t buy a just released model, but that’s me. I would be more than happy with a previous model M1 Mac.

    Think about any M1 Mac. You will not believe the performance difference, I’m sure. About the RAM, you’ll need less with a modern computer equipped with an SSD.

      Apple seems awfully quick to end-of-life their hardware these days, however. I would worry that if you bought an M1 machine, the clock would be ticking, and before you know it, you’d be seeing software whose minimum requirements were “M2 and above.”

        By my own experience, and yours, a Mac can last 10 years. But yes, sadly, money is the limiting factor. I would get the latest and greatest I could afford, but me being me, I’d prefer a mac mini, or studio, and not whatever was just released.
