I was looking at getting some roguelikes / lites (already have ToME, CoQ), unfortunately Cataclysm DDA is not on sale.

Krone Hotel at 90% off looks like a decent choice too. Then there’s Jupiter Hell, which I recently stumbled upon and looks great too.

I’d also like to get some of the FF games, though I’ve played VI, VII, IX and a bit of XII, it would be nice to revisit some of the older ones I haven’t played almost since the PSX era.

I finally picked up Graveyard Keeper and all the DLC. Really fun game and plays great on the Steam Deck.

It is unlikely that Cataclysm ever goes on sale, because the steam release basically is just a donation. You can get the game for free on the official website: https://cataclysmdda.org

There you can also donate other amounts than the Steam price.

Necesse. It’s like top-down Terraria with colonists that organize your chests for you. Great early game content, anyway.

Not the guy you responded to, but I have experience with the game and stream deck.

The controller works fine, although I can’t help but think some buttons for actions are incorrect. Like cancel on one menu is one button, but a different button elsewhere. I believe controller support was somewhat recently added though so maybe it’s just not fully baked.

I suppose I could contact the author and let them know my feedback.

I’ve reached a weird sort of critical mass where steam sales no longer provide me with dopamine

I just bought that too. I’m only afraid to play it because I know I’ll never be able to stop.

Luckily there is an actual end-game, about 100 hours in! Basically when there’s nothing left to exploit haha.

I’m waiting for the combat update before I play a new round.

@[email protected] If you buy the oldest FFs, 1-3, keep in mind that the versions on Steam have massive changes to game mechanics to make the games easier and more like FF7. I don’t think it does FF1 any favors because the difficulty was a lot of what the game had going for it on replays, but if you just want to say you beat FF1 the Steam version does the job.

I’m thinking of picking up SaGa Frontier myself. Does it seem worth $15 to people?

Worth it with all the add ons, though 100% a massive time sink! “Just one more turn…” will become your mantra.

Thinking about buying Elden Ring and RE2,

RE2 is so cheap but I’m a pussy who could hardly stand a horror game. Can only play 2 levels of Dead Space a day.

Is ER fair if I don’t plan to do coop or use summons?

I’ve never done any soulsborne with co-op and I think Elden Ring is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Can’t recommend highly enough. When you say summons do you mean spirit ashes?

Not sure what’s call in ER, the thing that can summon NPCs or players to help you.

Thank you. I heard some complains about it being less fair compared to other FS games due to this summoning thing.

Yea, the ai Summons are spirit ashes. I totally used spirit ashes, but there are plenty of folks who don’t. It’s pretty tough but if you’ve been successful in other souls games you’ll be fine. The insane detail and thought put into world design is the best part for me, so didn’t see a reason not to use spirit ashes.

I thought ER was on par with or easier than other souls games solo, I actually had a harder time playing in co-op than solo. It’s quite fun and has a ton of replayability on PC with the modding community. I’m in the same vein with the spooky games being a no-go, so I have nothing to offer on RE2 vs ER.

Thank you. I heard some complained about it not being fair for a solo player like other FS games. Glad to hear that it’s somewhat easier.

I think I’m going to pick up control.

I’ve been toying with the idea for a while now and 75% off is really hard to argue against.
