Martinelli needs more output but his runs change the whole atmosphere, he destroy not only the RB’s morale but the opposition as a whole. We need to look for alternatives because he and Saka are getting double marked and even triple marked like Martinelli himself (and Billy for that matter) said he needs the ball coming fast to his feet so he can avoid it, if we aren’t able to do it we need solutions:
Rice progressive runs through the middle
Saliba drawing players more often and being the DLP in order for Rice to bypass the pressing and having freedom to progress the ball
in case of Rice-Kai-ode.
Kai and Ode needs to roam around and ode needs to stop dropping deep. It’s essential for Martinelli and Saka to make runs all the time (90% decoy runs)
The objective is to create a whole in the midfield, I know that’s what we’re trying to do, but more often than not the fullbacks will forget Saka and Martinelli and close the channels.
