Honestly, probably not even the worst comment in that particular thread. I saw lots of enlightened centrists, horsehoe theory advocates, and “communist are basically nazis”.

Even in the last couple weeks I have definitely seen an increase in the amount of reddit liberal type comments far worse than this.

Them casually ignoring that the nazis were inspired by their “manifest destiny” nor the amount of communists murdered by the nazi hordes. They have the gall to call communists nazis and in the same breath foam at the mouth supporting banderites and their ethnic cleansing lol.

Oh woe is me, why can’t I find an actual leftist space?

What’s that, being against western imperialism is inherent to being a leftist?

No, no. It’s brainrot! I am very clever.

Could the globally-exploited and domestically-colonized subjects of empire be right?

      No.

It’s the TANKIES who are wrong.

Why should trials be made into the perverse public spectacle that they so often are in the US? Does this person even know what trials are like in other western countries?

I can understand disempowering social democrats, and social democracy has an unpleasant track record, but applying lethal force to ordinary social democrats is too harsh. Many of them are simply lower‐class people who don’t know any better and have to see the pseudodemocracy for what it truly is before they lose all of their faith in it. The politicians and other privileged types can shove off, but the rest just need more patience.

Not that I support shooting social democrats, but I can completely see why it’s something Nazis wouldn’t want to happen.

The Nazis were in large part able to come to power because the German social democrats were more concerned with fighting the communists than fighting the right – they considered the main enemy to be “on the left.” They were also the big power block that supported the status quo, perpetuating the conditions that made Hitler attractive to so many people. Most importantly, they were the ones who betrayed the German revolution of 1918, insisting that the new government be formed out of a broad coalition of parties and classes, thus ushering the utter shitshow that was the Weimar republic.

They supported also the treaty of Versailles – the communists were opposed to it – which, as we know was one of Hitler’s big talking points: “shame to the German nation,” and so on. The Nazis really were in a lot of ways enabled by the social democrats, which is why one should think very hard before trusting Bernie-type people.

It’s a comment of one person, that really has no, (to very little,) basis in what is actually being discussed here. And someone pulled it and framed it to make a… great quality post. Okay, but it’s not even funny.
