with this whole gk thing its tiring to be swapping the starting keeper around every season or two, top teams just dont operate like that
They do until they find a keeper who is actually top tier. Until we have someone who is consistently on the level of Alisson/Ederson/Courtois, I have no issue with it.
GK discussion is so tiring. Fans unfortunately fell for the media gimmick and are over protective of Ramsdale.
Raya is better right now, Ramsdale has the highest potential.
This is not about any media gimmick.
To start with, we’ve got two very good keepers, with little gap between them (IMO), and a manager who said he would rotate them often ( I do not mean substitute them in the same game).
But ramsdale has barely played any football, despite playing a huge role in us having our best seasons in decades and becoming a fan favourite. At the very least, he should have played the Champions League games cause he earned it.
And it’s not like Raya has been putting in great performances - he has just been mid.
I feel ramsdale deserves more opportunities to at least fight for his position, as do everyone else in the team.
did spurs fans always compare our players to theirs? did they say any forward was better than henry? any cb better than adams? the audacity of them to compare saliba to any of their cbs or rice to bissouma or saka to kulu… terrible.

Fun fact of the day 39 pl games played for Saliba so one more than a full season and he has more goals and assists than losses. 3 goals 2 assists and he’s lost 4 games.
Ramsdale should be fuming at his dad, I get wanting to back your son and feeling really frustrated to see him replaced and see him very upset, but jeez you have to show better judgement than that. Awful look.

We were brutal so we could sieze an opportunity to bring in Raya, Arteta sold a story to the media that very quickly started to reveal holes. This is the result, you will piss off the other players camp and they are absolutely right to feel that way given how it all transpired. This happens a lot, although its usually the agent throwing furniture.

I don’t really get the Raya is better than Ramsdale argument, when Raya has made a near fatal mistake in almost every game he’s played. Arteta clearly prefers Raya, and we can trust Arteta without pretending Raya is a better than Ramsdale when he is not.
Raya’s body of work is much larger then the 3 or so mistakes he’s made for us so far. He’s been a premier league keeper of note for years now believe it or not.
Raya is 28 if he was a world class keeper he’d have been play at a big club a long time ago.
Horrific ball knowledge, keepers have always and forever been the one position where you can consistently find world class level players spending their prime for mid clubs.
Sommer spent his entire prime at Gladbach and he’s Top 10 ITW over the last decade. Unai Simon is top 10 ITW right now and he’s been at Bilbao his whole career. Pickford, literally England’s #1 ahead of Ramsdale btw, is playing for relegation battling Everton. Just a laughable notion that world class keepers only play for big clubs, it has never ever been true in the history of this sport.
Sommer is not a world class keeper what are you on about oh my goodness. Pickford is not a world class keeper. You are using average keepers and it’s undermining your point entirely, because world class goalkeepers like every other position are picked up while they are young. Not saying the mature at the same rate as outfield players.
Raya is better for the system because he can bait the press without shitting himself and pumping it forward every time. That’s the key part. Other than that he’s definitely not worse than Rambo has been for the last 6 months. Let’s not forget Rambo has been making error after error leading up to raya starting games. This season alone there was good reason Rambo could have been pulled off early and raya subbed on he was that bad.
I think he is just willing to play the way Arteta wants. As a spare man in build up
I mean he is better. He’s a better shot stopper imo. Easily. Look at the goals Ramsdale conceded last season. Also, the dumbest decisions I’ve seen Ramsdale make last season, I’ve yet to see Raya make those same mistakes.
Ramsdale was one of the worst GKs last season when you look at the numbers. He was underperforming massively in a title challenging side. You’ve only given Raya 8 league games lol.
Every GK makes mistakes, even Ederson made some against Chelsea.
But the best GK’s don’t let these get into their head and know it’s just part of the game. For Ramsdale if he makes a mistake early you know it will play in his mind and he’ll have a very shaky game because of it, such as punting the ball long into no-mans land out of fear of making another mistake.
In 22/23: Raya prevented 4.6 goals (3rd best in the league. Ramsdale allowed 2 more goals than he should (worse than David de Gea). Besides this Raya offers more on the ball as an extra man in the build up. Keep crying all you want about how Ramsdale is a better keeper but you’re objectively wrong.
I think NNT is right about Havertz. He was signed as a 9 and is playing in midfield due to the Partey injury. The XI for the community shield is what Arteta sees as his strongest team when everyone is fit, and when we sign a LCM, Havertz will go back up front.
