Will replacing to semi metal brake pads make difference?

My car came in with small rims with narrow tires and that made the riding feel bouncy. So I changed to larger rim and wider tires within the oem spec.

Now the car is not at all bouncy but the braking response has become quite late.

Will Replacing brake pads to semi metal make some difference in stoping distance and response?
