I’m currently paying for Internet service through Cox. My current plan says it’s for 250 Mb per second. But when I do speed tests, I never see anything more than about 100.

Suggestions on what I can do to try to maximize my Internet? My current modem/router combo Says it can handle up to 650 Mb per second.

Refer to the user manual as seen here: https://motorolacable.com/documents/MG7550-UserManual-revB.pdf

    (Page 42)

Log into your router, and visit the Wireless / Basic tabs for the 5Ghz band. Check your channel width settings.

If it is at 20Mhz, try bumping it up to 40, and testing your speeds again.

If it is at 40, try 80.

(This assumes that your PC is using the 5Ghz band.)

You can also try this on the 2.4Ghz band, though it’s not recommended to go beyond 40Ghz on 2.4Ghz, especially if you’re in an area with tons of neighboring Wifi routers.

need a lot more info. what devices have you tested on? are they connected to wifi or ethernet? what’s your router? what category cable is connecting your modem and router? (look for “cat” on the cable) how many devices do you have on your network?

generally speaking, wired ethernet to your device will always outperform wifi.

if you’re on a desktop, make sure your computer has a Gb port or higher (don’t ask us, we won’t know, just google your computer, device or network card to find out)

if you’re on wifi, how’s your wifi set up? do you have 5ghz band enabled? is your device connected to that one? (google to find out how)

most of these are leading questions. researching and answering them will help you discover ways to optimize your network.

The LAN speed test is more than what I paid for. I’m trying to figure out how to have the WiFi improve.

      Thanks for the input, tho.

Can be a lot of things. For my parents problem was the old lan card in pc, which was 10/100. Can be router port, switch port, cable. How do you measure it? Can you plug ur pc directly to the modem or router?
