And it still looks 10x better than the newest 5-series
The fact that this design was hated on release still baffels me. One of the best designs BMW have ever done, and no design has aged so well imo.
Agreed, this. the E9X, the E89 Z4 and the E65 LCI all look gorgeous
I remember when i saw one for the first time around 2004, i was shocked, such a different design to the e39, today it still looks modern while the 39 looks of it’s era
You mean the e60 still is a shockingly ugly, generic design and the e39 looks like a classic. (I fixed it for you.)
E39 always looked old but classic to me even when it was in production.
Funny how people were bashing this car and the Bangle design. Looks so much better than a lot of their new stuff.
The E60 is one of the two cars that got me into cars. The other one was the 04 Acura TL. I remember how much I loved both of them at the time
I own a 2010 tl and 2007 530i rn😭
Honourable mention to the Infiniti FX35. Thing looked like it time travelled from the future. In fact lots of Nissans/Infinitis looked awesome back then.
All of the E6x and Chris Bangle himself got an incredible amount of hate in the early 2000’s, honestly even worse than than the G8x, G6x’s of today. Not just enthusiasts, but even mainstream journalists piled on. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The Bangle 7 was the real crime. The 5 is easier on the eyes.
There are still people bashing even in here some people have deep hate for the final E chassis cars. They only respect G chassis because its new and you know ZF 8 speed
The car I learned to drive in and reason I am on my 3rd generation of 3 series ownership!
Also insane how modern it still looks compared to the Merc’s and Audi’s of the same age.
Honestly it low-key looks similar to the new one
The headlights for sure do
And everybody hated the E60 back then. Like they hate the G60 now
That’s because it came after the E39, which was the pinnacle of the 5-series. At least, so far.
And everybody hated the E60 back then
It’s still one of the shittiest looking, handling, riding and built BMWs of all time. The fact that people decided to accept this as “timeless design of an amazing car” means their standards were never too high to begin with.
Shittiest handling and riding never heard those 2 mentioned before about the E60 ,I thought it handled better than the F10 and rode decently when I drove one a few years ago maybe a little harsh on some surfaces . Do you have deep rooted hatred toward E-chassis cars? I need to know who Im dealing with.
I still hate the e60 wym
I dread the prospect of living in a world where G60 will be considered good looking, classic design
I’d say G60 looks pretty good. I’d be lucky to have a car like that one day
Ngl bmw should’ve stayed with the G30 design. It looks 5x more beautiful than the new one
I like the design too.
I still hate the E60. It’s just a lump of car.
So far the 5 series is the only decent looking series of this generation of BMW’s.
Had the touring version. A lovely car that has aged remarkably well.
My daily is an E61 Sport. Still think it looks great!
How was the reliability and build quality with the e61? I’ve been thinking of getting one with a naturally aspirated I6 gas motor for a second vehicle
I love my touring! It gets tons of compliments.
I still love that design.
Aged like fine wine
A Gentle reminder that E36 is an oldtimer.
Looks it
Had an E60 528i xDrive with a six speed manual. Still miss that car despite it being much slower than my current car. RIP it died in a fire.
Lol you are delusional if you think the poverty spec non-M Sport E60 is better looking than the G60
Not really. The car feels the 30 years old the moment you step inside it.
The F10 generation after that doesn’t look drastically different at all. Now the new G chassis 5 series sure it looks modern as it should 20 years later
This is the car that almost destroyed bmw’s reputation completely. Lets go back to pretending this POS never happened.
Yeah but my girl is still gorgeous 😍😍
