In WA, a rebate of $3,500 is available to buyers of eligible zero-emission cars, but some suggest this support should be extended to two-wheeled EVs.
Water electrolysis, fossil fuels, or biomass. We could have had a natural progression into water electrolysis, and carbon capture solutions, as we slowly built out EV infrastructure and cleaner ways to do it, etc.
Instead, we waste by building EV batteries, delivering power from coal, fossil fuels, etc.
Hybrid vehicles make sense for us right now. Much more than EV, in my opinion. I want EV though, eagerly waiting for right distance and quality.
So most of your sources for hydrogen involve using the same dirty energy sources that you criticize EVs for using.
And hydrogen vehicles use more of that energy for every mile driven for the life of the vehicle.
PHEVs can be low emissions if the battery is really large enough to cover your daily commute and you can charge it every day at home or work. At which point it’s really just a small battery EV. This isn’t a solution for anyone who can’t charge at home or work though.
