Hey, quick question. i have mazda 3 gt with 215/45r18 (wheels). Can I buy wheels 215/45r17, its winter tires + rims and I am kinda getting good deal.

    Generally, assuming there’s no major fitment/clearance issues with the rims (offset, caliper/brake, bolt pattern) your speedometer will read a little faster than you’re actually travelling. But if you want to educate yourself, go check out that website mentioned in the other post.

    It’s best to stick to the same overall diameter. The correct match would be 215/50/17.

    The 215/45/17 would be 4% smaller than your current tires, so gearing and speedo would be affected. I did it once for the same reason. A really good deal on barely used X-ice tires.

    It was annoying.

      Yup stay with the same rolling diameter so up your tire size and you down the wheel size.

      And you want even more traction? Downsize the width
