Germany was a rival to Spains dominant era, but they always lost. Germanys high press style didnt really come about until about 2013. I think 2014 Germany was much different than 2010 in terms of style. I feel like theyd give trouble to spain, and their counters would be a handful .

Germany 2014 takes this. Spain’s midfield was better but had pretty poor goal scoring. Germany was like a machine. With an excellent bench as well. They didn’t have a single weakness in that team.

People really downplaying how crazy good Spain was from 2008-2012. One of the BEST to ever do It. Germany was great for sure, bur Spain was a different beast that did not lose whenever mattered.

spain was beatable, Italy laid the blueprint in the 2012 euro groups with a 352, Netherlands then went and did it better

Italy got a 1-1 in fhe group stage and then got smashed 4-0 in the game that mattered most. Netherlands beat them when they were already past their golden age.

That starting line up they had in 2014 was very good. I don’t think there’s much excuses. Lvg really cluttered the center with pressure it was amazing tactics. Spain just couldn’t be comfortable on the ball with all those guys running around.

This is not an excuse, it’s natural that teams cannot dominate for a long time even if the players are the same, because the game evolves. Almost the same Germany that dominated in 2014 was dead last in the group stage at the next world cup.

italy played a 352 in the group and should’ve won

when we got smashed 4-0 we for some reason played a 4312 (and had an early red)

Italy had no red card in 2012, they played in 10 because Motta got injured with no subs left and Spain was leading 2-0 and being the better team anyway.

Spain 2010 I think would put up a good fight, and they easily could’ve exploited Germany’s lack of a natural world class left back. Germany definitely would’ve hit them with some dangerous counter attacks, but I think that it all would depend on how much Spain could starve them of possession. If Spain never let go of the ball like they usually did, then I don’t really see Germany getting more than 1 goal, even with a ridiculously strong press.

You’re missing the point of the question. It’s about which team would win in a single match, not their history. Spain was very good and effective, no one can deny that winning three consecutive major international titles is impressive.

Although, I think the 2014 German team would beat the 2010 Spanish team. Germans showed they had an answer to tiki taka in 2013. Plus they won a WC with hardly any offense on the left side.

Still same answer, Spain would win ffs cant believe you guys actually think Germany would beat them, prime Villa was more dangerous than whole German attack combined, i am not even mentioning Xabi Alonso, Xavi and Iniesta in their best yesrs at midfield….

Germany placed second 2008, third 2010 and was in the semis 2012 losing to basically Pirlo alone because Löw fcked up the starting eleven

Germans won’t win - Yes they were more ruthless but Spain was lot more dominating in controlling things. That Spain team wasn’t just the midfield -Puyol, Pique and Ramos were no slouch and David Villa is a better striker than any Germany had. Not to mention the Spain bench was much better - they had fabregas, silva, mata, torres, pedro, cazrola lol

I am also not sure about which team would take it here, Spain was very dominant at that time. But to say David Villa was a better striker than Klose or Müller is a big stretch. Villa was good, yes, but he benifitted greatly from the midfield bossing possession and picking apart the defenses. If you have Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets AND Xabi Alonso behind you, I think even I could score goals there.

Yes, but to reduce David Villa to that is an insult considering he scored the second most goals in a decade between 2000-2010 in La liga while actively playing few years into the decade and playing for Zaragoza and Valencia. He was only behind Eto by 14 goals despite playing 3 seasons lesser. He also won trophies with teams outside Barca and Madrid including multiple copa del rey and a league with Athletico where he literally scored the league winner in Camp Nou. I can say with utmost certainity hes a better goal scorer and striker than Klose and Muller who both have only about 60% of career goals as Villa despite playing in superior teams.

Germany 2014 is basically the same squad as Germany 2010 with a bit more of experience, both in their prime Germany wins 3-0 and tiki taka doesn’t even see the color of the ball that game

Spain always defeated Germany, while Barca always had a problem with Bayern. The Bayern player that really bothered Barca’s midfield in 2013 (when their manager had cancer and wasn’t available) was a Spanish player Martinez).

They had Kroos that was the main difference in players. He was in team of the tournament so he’s not a small difference.

Kroos played against Spain in 2010, Germany in 2014 was slightly better than 2014 and the 1-0 is lying, could’ve been a larger margin, not the other way around.

Yeah yeah Spain was totally dominant during that period but i wanna remind you all that in 2014 the tikitaka tactics had already been outplayed by the German (for more information search Bayern vs Barca 2013). While Germany seemed weaker in the defence, it evens out with Spain having no attacking prowess lol.

Think that played out across two legs when Bayern smashed Barcelona in 2013. The game evolves.
