The endless Magic Mouse complaints/story is older than the tale of time, I swear. Does no one else get tired of this same stuff?

Is the Magic Mouse dumb? Yes. Can we stop endlessly discussing the Magic Mouse and its charging port no one should realistically really care about? Absolutely fucking yes.

People worry about the location of the charging port far more than they should. Literally takes 15 minutes and let’s you know when it’s running low.

He built a case that extends it into a more ergonomic design.

At that point, you can just get a different mouse.

I’m not an Apple shill. But the software inside the magic mouse is what makes it special. I’m unaware of any product that can do the same stuff 1:1 in a better form factor.

If someone can make it more ergonomic, then that is great. I don’t follow Apple products close enough to know or understand why, but I’m assuming Apple is the one blocking out third party mice utilizing the software that makes the magic mouse multi directional scrolling feel special.

dude when paired with a MacBook touch pad you can get to savant control when using the surfaces simultaneously.

Yeah but it’s so awful to hold and actually execute those (arguably very good) gestures. I love using macos with the trackpad, the gestures make navigation a breeze, but the magic mouse is awful, the pros just don’t outweigh how non ergonomic it is.

Get both, as magic mouse is a dumb trackpad, which is essential for ipados. Its also small and lightweight, fits perfectly on the left side of the keyboard, when on the go.

How often do you guys charge your mouse? I’ve had a mic mouse for like 2 yrs and have never had it die on me while I was using it. Once the alert pops, I plug it in that night, next day it’s charged. Unless ppl are like moving their mouse around the screen for like hrs at a time? I don’t get it? Maybe you ignor the warning that pops up and then it dies?

But the gestures with the magic mouse are so good. It’s one of those things once you start using them it’s hard to go back. The MX Master you can set it up to use gestures but it’s just not as convenient as the magic mouse. I personally use the Magic Tracpad with an ergonomic mouse so I kinda get the best of both. I love the Magic trac pad now it’s really handy in C4d as well surprisingly

“likely still be a little wonky using the Magic Mouse with a cord attached”

You mean like a wired mouse? Which people have been using without issue for literal decades now? That’s considered wonky? What?

I have written magic mouse specific code in a fucking web app because the magic mouse does weird shit with scroll events. God I hate that thing.

I guess I’m in the minority. I like the Magic Mouse. Using finger swipes to navigate pages has made it hard for me to go back to a standard mouse. I thought the charging port would be a problem but it’s never been an issue. Every few weeks I make sure to plug it in as I’m getting up from my desk.

I’m an audio engineer, and the gesture controls make life so much easier in a DAW. I work on podcasts and audio books so swiping through hours of audio effortlessly makes it worth it to me hands down.

Yeah,it’s great as a graphic designer too, being able to scroll and pan around the workspace with ease. Been using the Magic Mouse since 2009 when it was new and bundled with my iMac.

Also in the Audio world. Being able to freely scroll around the timeline in a fast paced session is an invaluable feature. Wish there was a more ergonomic model.

I don’t think most people complain about any of those things. A lot of people (including me) find the flat design terrible ergonomically. Do you find yourself using it as a trackpad more than actually physically moving the mouse around?

Same. And being left handed I appreciate its utterly neutral shape. I can set left hand click to be on the right side of the mouse and it’s exactly the same design feel wise as the standard orientation. So many designs favor righties but I never adapted to using a mouse right handed.

Same, have been using it for over a year now, litterally only charge it once a month, I guess ppl don’t realize how long it last, and that it tells you multiple times that the mouse is at low battery. All you do is plug it in when you get off your computer after you get the pop up, it’s really not too serious in my opinion.

Once a month is short when you come from a mouse that lasts 3 months or a year before charging. But as modern mice became more energy hungry that isn’t even bad anymore. The charging port on the bottom is just a joke though and ergonomics are terrible for most. I think Apple has a lot of great hardware but they just can’t do mice.

Yeah same experience. It has a long battery life, multi touch, swipes, all of that make it a great daily driver for work. Even if it runs out of batteries a couple of mins are enough to keep you going until a break in your work. I really like it.

Not alone. I have always been a “fingertip” mouse user, in that I don’t rest my full hand on the mouse, only my fingertips. I generally use a small mouse when using Windows, and find the Apple mouse to be about right.

Yeah same. I’m not resting my hand in it. Is that what people do? I have a hard time using a standard mouse in illustrator. I need to scroll all the directions and the Logitech I use for windows CAD work while ergonomic doesn’t have that kind flexibility for fluid movement. I love the Magic Mouse.

the magic mouse like a lot of other stupid apple products are for rich people who do not work at all. they are there to look pretty and futuristic. the only reason the charging port is at the bottom is to make the mouse look seamless at all angles.

there is no need to fix this guff, just buy something different.

(if they wanted a seamless mouse they should have gotten a charging coil into it and make it charge wirelessly lol)
