the 911 turbo motor needs the side vents to help cool the motor. that would not be ideal on a car kicking up dirt everywhere. the sport classic gets away without having side vents probably from some clever rerouting of intake air through the floor. someone can correct me if i’m wrong. the smaller turbos of gts give a quicker spool up as well, at the cost of top end power.
the gt3 4.0 is a relatively low torque motor. not ideal for climbing hills and sand dunes. especially with the dakar weighing like 500 pounds more than the gt3.
Those side intakes you speak of in a turbo aren’t for cooling, those are for combustion. 911 stopped being air cooled in 1998. Lol
How do radiators cool liquid with out ventilation?
A very long garden hose running to a spigot
magic
Liquid cooled engines still need air intakes for cooling. That includes the 911.

Those intakes are at the front, where the radiator seats and the dakar has it.
Water cooled engines still need air for cooling…
Who says they won’t do something more powerful later? How do we know there isn’t a 959 homage on the way?
Is this a subtle insult to the 959 that it looks like an safari 911 because of the period correct aspect ratio tires and ride height? 🤣
Not really. The 959 was most famous for its Dakar win above anything else really.
You ask that question like anyone here knows the answer.
Some of the best Porsche engineers are mods/commentors
All I can say is - I have one and it’s as fast as it needs to be. Putting GT or turbo power In a lifted 911 would get the buying public into even more trouble on the roads than they will already get into it.
Porsches are about handing first anyways. That is how they are such fast cars. People have trouble understanding fast + corners :/
