So ive bought all the parts to manual swap my E46, the manual transmission is easily liftable but im not sure how to move the heavier automatic transmission (zf5hp19) onto a car trunk for disposal. for those with some experience in this regard, will I need hulk strength or is it possible to lift it?
Way heavy enough for help to lift it. Be careful of the flash at the mold seams and the inside of the bellhousing. I help to move an automatic decades ago and cut the crap out of my fingers lifting the bellhousing end. The front surface, where it bolts to the engine was nicely machined but not deburred. They left a really nice burr on the inside and when we lifted the tranny, it rolled in my hand a little bit. Cut like three fingers pretty bad. I didn’t get stitches, but I wasn’t worth much at work for a few days. Be careful and get help.
