Damm I really want the vision roof but that may be cut for U.S model…
I’m overall happy with my purchase as I find Hyundai’s N styling hideous, but I’m excited to see if the I5N quirkiness ends up influencing other manufacturers. I like the idea of shifting, even if it’s pointless, because it sounds fun. Though, I think both the I5N and EV6 GT could benefit from a 2-gear transmission like the Taycan and e-Tron.
I love how this car looks
still like gas, hybrid second, full ev third
Saw one at the LA Auto Show, and I really liked the design. Not a fan of the e-shift gimmick, but I do look forward to test driving one in the future. I hope more and more companies pursue EV performance cars. It won’t be perfect yet, but at least it shows they’re willing to try.
They put a rear wiper on it!? Ha. Amazing.
I actually like the look of this better then the base Ioniq 5
Brilliant idea. Cars aren’t about chasing max speed anymore. They’re about the experience. When your hot hatch has over 601 hp on tap, you can afford to cut the power for simulated gear shifts and still go very quickly.
Honestly, I think BMW and Audi may already be exploring this kind of experience, but we’re waiting to see if there’s demand for it. Hyundai had the courage to do this crazy thing, and others will follow.
My friend was gonna put a fake exhaust on his tesla…so I guess there are people these gimmicks appeal to
But it’s only 2023.
I actually got to drive an Ioniq 5 N pre-production car and while my opinion doesn’t count for much, I have to say, it was absolutely fantastic. I was turning laps at SMP in Australia in it and it was genuinely incredible. For a car that weighs what it does, it feels as nimble as can be. It’s an absolute rocket ship, too.
For those worried about the “fake stuff” you can turn it all off. It sounds silly at first when it’s on… the fake engine sound? Sit in the car for a moment and it feels absurd. But drive it? It fades away, and becomes part of the feedback the car offers you. I truly believe it to be an awesome way for petrolheads to segue into appreciating electric cars.
The ability to “change gears” with this thing? Absolutely awesome, even if it’s totally synthetic. It offers a transitional stepping stone to what these electric machines consider “normal.”
I know I won’t convince anyone through text… but at least try to give it a chance in a high performance setting. The synthesis of it all faded away immediately, and the driving experience the 5N offered is absolutely awesome, whether it’s this synthisized “manual” and noises, or the full-electric, all-real side.
200 mile range is a nope for me. Looks dope tho.
I actually really like these (the customizable torque split feature is a dream come true feature for me) and atm it’s probably the only EV I’d actually consider buying.
That said im genuinely curious what makes this an SUV instead of a hatchback.
More power than a huracán
Less fun to drive than an aygo
I know EV is the future, but it’s gotta be said. This would be the perfect car to put that N ICE powertrain in.
