I have to manually click into sport mode or click the disable auto start button in my Porsche each time I drive.

Is there a way to permanently disable this feature without voiding the warranty?

    No.

And I do not get why people have a problem with auto start stop. It works flawlessly and does not impede my driving pleasure at all.

Turn it off then set your key. That’s how it works in my 2018 Macan. It’s now tagged to my key and always off when I drive. Just like seat settings, steering wheel etc.

Wish I had this on my Panamera. No key memory, on the door theres just 3 memory setting buttons and afaik they do not save my drive mode.

Might be better off asking on a Facebook page or a forum. Since Porsche is part of VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) I’d imagine you should be able to go in with something like an OBDEleven or Rosstech software and disable it. Someone at the dealer may be able to it for you as well.

I’m with you in my new Cayenne. It works far better than other cars I’ve been in with it, but is annoying as all get out in my small town filled with stop signs. I’ve gotten over the old school “this can’t be good for the engine” but the very brief lag at every stop sign that must be spaced 31 seconds apart is driving me nuts. Ya, I guess I just need to click into sports mode.

My MY2015 you can have the button on off, it stays off.

There is a certain MY where it doesn’t allow that anymore.

So you have to press something every time you get in the car to make ‘auto start stop’ stay off.

Couple of options. If you know someone with an OBD-II programmer you can disable it permanently from that interface. There is also a mod box than can be installed in the transmission housing that remembers the button position.

Does your car have an “individual” mode as one of the drive mode selectors? I made sure auto-start stop is deactivated and just dial over to individual (along with my other settings) right after I fire it up.

You can program the custom steering wheel button to turn this “economy mode” aka start/stop + highway coasting on/off.
