I know I’m going to be called a shill for this, but anyway:

Earlier today some dude posted a review by wheelsboy for the Avatr 12 sedan. It was immediately downvoted to shit. And it wasn’t a bad review! It was in depth, it was fun, the guy did an overview of the product and showed us how it drove. It wasn’t some low quality thing!

If this was just a random thing, then whatever; odd stuff sometimes from time to time. But this is a reoccuring issue when it comes to Chinese (and even some Euro!) brands and models, or news, or manufacturers

Look, I get it; you don’t like China. I’m not super keen on every aspect of their society myself. But jesus; if you don’t like something, just look away. Stop trying to drown out EV news from the largest EV market in the whole damn world. If you want that, make your own subreddit that’s just about american EVs and remain blissfully unaware of what Stellantis or Geely or whoever the hell is doing. But don’t ruin it for the rest of us!

But this sub is called “electricvehicles”, so that’s why people from around the world go. They don’t know the American perspective should be the default one, here.
If this sub had a clear description like “if you’re European, please go to this sub…”, then your comment would be more valid.

If you feel that non-Americans should not be allowed to comment on things like that, this should be at least written in the description of the sub.

Has nothing to do with China, has everything to do with a people shilling their YouTube channels when this is a text based forum with plenty of character space for a review. It’s not just here it’s all over Reddit, if I wanted YouTube reviews I’d go there.

Or people just have differing opinions and may not have liked the video.

You’re the one making assumptions here.

Chinese vehicles are a threat to the EU, the US, Canada, and Australia. I get that the Asians have it going for them, but I’m tired of seeing news from China. I don’t care about what the commies do.

Hi, I’m a Rivian owner and I’m equally as frustrated by all the Europeans that flood truck / SUV threads saying EVs should be limited to bikes and small cars and nobody actually needs 200-300+ miles of range.

Maybe instead of pointing fingers let’s just all stop shitting on EVs that don’t fit our specific use cases?

There’s like 9 comments on the post in question and the thread you’re concerned about is in regards to safety standards from one user. Valid concern, I may add. If the Chinese cars that are flooding out going to be as safe as a G-Wizz or are they actually engineered properly? For the experience most of us have on Chinese products, it’s correct for us to be concerned. Chinese products excluding cars are known for being cheap and low quality. They need to prove themselves first for both Europeans and Americans to trust them. Ask the tough questions and don’t get butthurt when somebody else does. It is also suspicious how China is making so many new models so quickly when all the other manufacturers are taking many years and struggling to make them profitable (look at GM for example, take the Cybertruck’s delayed release as example as well).

We’d like everybody to succeed, but if it’s too good to be true, there usually is a huge underlying issue that we don’t know about yet and are right to be skeptical.

The video in question is a week old and has less than 50k views. Maybe people just don’t care about 14 minute videos.

Some of their videos work better than others. But Wheelsboy and insideChinaAuto have so good content on new Chinese EVs and offer some good insights. Especially for cars we know will be exported to other markets… like the Avatr.

While I wholeheartedly agree, I actually find it less prominent here than in most other Reddit communities, then again Reddit at large is basically sinophohia and western chauvinism with a fedora.

BYD is the second biggest selling EV in Australia.

MG (SAIC Motor) is the 3rd best selling.

Only you Americans who haven’t heard of them…

I hope they’re successful in making ev’s. I don’t want any company to be the only company making electric cars. Otherwise that’s going against the success of electric cars. We need more options if we are going to take over gas cars. To want one company to make the only electric car is to be against the whole ev movement. Thats what is wrong with die hard fanboys. They’re an embarrassment. Variety is necessary if we’re going to take over oil.
