Hi, I have a 2023 CX-30 and was in an accident back in January (not my fault).

Passenger-side curtain airbag was deployed, but the problem is that even though my bodyshop swapped whole damaged parts, dealership couldn’t reset error code. They are suspecting some harness was burnt while airbag was deploying. They are trying to get new wiring harness and change the entire interior wiring, but it hasn’t even manufactured yet and not for a while again (my guess).

Is it common to see a wiring harness damaged when an airbag is deployed? I’m just wondering if it’s a manufacturing defect.

Not a manufacturing defect, it’s damage from an accident or poor repair. Complain to your insurance cause that shit should be totaled.

As long as the airbag light is on, your vehicle is not fixed. If Mazda claims it cannot be fixed, you’ll need to discuss your options with the insurance company that handled the claim.

I haven’t been in the industry for a few years so my memory is fuzzy on Mazda regulation. I do know that Hyundai requires the replacement of any harness that touches a deployed Airbag. It is very common for the connector to be burned during a deployment.

Call your insurance company and stay on the phone until you get a new car.

What’s the error code for. Some body shops paint over a ground on the inside of the fender on Mazdas and that screws up the whole wiring system. Source, I work with the guy who made that a TSB
