So I’m looking for a Cross and saw this interior pic on AutoTrader. Can’t believe the lousy looking seat finish. Yikes!

It is very cheap on the inside. I’m driving a 2023 Forester that makes it look like a tonka toy🤣 Stop appoligizing for Toyota!!! They’re mailing it in in the USA.

Breaking news!! : The Corolla also does not accelerate as fast as a Ferrari! Shocking! I’m outraged! Shame on Toyota! 🙃

Funnier than being mad at people defending Toyota are the ones that think an Auto Trader pic is the end all be all.

It’s made in a facility that’s only about 2 years old (with most of the workers there being new to car manufacturing) which is half-run by Mazda.

I just had a loaner Jeep compass latitude (msrp $33000) and I think the fully loaded hybrid cross at $29000 is a much better deal and a no brainer. That Jeep was such barebones for that much money.

It’s a Corolla with a lift kit and a head room increase. Not sure what you expect?

To me that looks like someone put the rear seat down and then moved the passenger’s front seat back and squished the headrest against something. But I could be wrong.

Do people in here never owned cheap toyotas? Seats finish was never an issue, the amount of cope in there is ridiculous.

I don’t know man, I just work on them. I don’t think I’ve ever actually looked to see if the head rest on the rear of them was flat or not on the Corolla Crosses.

Bro, not a single US built vehicle from multiple manufacturers I’ve owned or had regular experience in has had this fucked of upholstery fresh from the factory. This isn’t a US quality issue (the Avalon was made two states away, even!), this is a “this specific plant in garbo Alabama has dog shit QC by anyone’s standards” issue, as well as whoever is supplying the seats. But again, they should have rejected these seats at the plant long before they got placed in any cars, so it’s still that their QC sucks.

Wouldn’t be shocked if anyone who cares about that refuses to live in Alabama, to be honest.

Or alternatively, like I originally said, someone fucked up the head rest when doing the pre-delivery service when they shoved an accessory box into the trunk and squashed the head rest.

Why is this subreddit so dramatic for no reason.

If this sold by a Toyota dealership, then they need to know. They will resolve this. If not, Corporate will get into this matter. This isn’t Toyota quality.

I’m not sure what that response is supposed to mean. This means there is an easily accountable final check employee that is not as detail oriented as his job position requests.

It means a previous owner didn’t mangle it somehow, that Toyota is fine letting it go from the factory this way. In Canada this thing (with tax) is close to $50k. I only make $110k/yr and there’s just no way I’m paying that for something that looks like that. What else missed the inspection? I’m out.

It’s wild that the phrase “I only make 110k a year” is so common. I don’t even make that in two years lmao

Will you send the VIN? I’m interested in seeing if this is a dealer seat cover that they install to up charge vs. factory installed.

Very confused as to why others always say the Corolla Cross is an economy car and this has no relationship with its quality.

OC just complained about the quality of the Corolla Cross. Even with cheap materials, Toyota should make higher quality. And cheap materials are not the excuse for the poor quality.

Y’all are really backing up Toyota for not giving two hecks about this interior. This should’ve never gotten fully through the assembly line like that any you know it, that’s unacceptable. Literally, it’s not allowed.

Toyotas manufactured in Japan have significantly higher quality because that’s what’s expected in Japan. Toyotas manufactured in the US have numerous problems with build quality because we’re all about cutting corners and saving money as much as possible.

yep looks like a cheap car interior made post-pandemic. QA or hwatever it’s called is lacking in literally every industry right now. not surprised in the slightest this got through.

Is this even factory leather? I’ve seen dealerships send it out to be reupholstered so they can sell it for more.

This is the correct answer. If you go on the website and build the vehicle, grey isn’t even an option for the softex on any of the packages for a corolla cross. (Unless it’s black and just looks grey in the picture.)

I was thinking the same thing… I’m in the car world. Sometimes customer really wants leather but the math doesn’t math on what there payments have to be so we throw in leather.

I’ve done it my self to 3 cars. Get a base version of the car and put leather in. That way I still save thousands.

Unless this is an XLE or XSE it’s aftermarket
