Cayman 718S’ are rather cheap to get in my area used. I want a fun car for the track and the backroads and some daily driving. Talk me into the 718s

Unfortunately, the hot car to pick for “car guys” in my area are Mustangs and challengers🙄 Don’t get me wrong, awesome cars but what they do with them is not so awesome. That’s probably why Porsches are easier to get in my area😂 “but it doesn’t have a V8”

I get it. Depending on the roads in your area those cars may make more sense. A 718 is going to be a little underwhelming in Houston for example where the roads are all straight and wide. Some high HP muscle car is going to offer more bang for your buck.

If you’re more interested in handling, cornering speed and agility, 718 all day. (I may get some hate for saying this in this sub tho)

I can definitely see a faster 0-60 and top speed car being better in Houston but where I live I think it’s mostly because of the big crowd of street racers. There’s a bunch of bridges that are anywhere between half a mile and a mile long and those things literally turn into drag strips at night😂 Luckily for me, there’s a large “Cars and Coffee” group and we almost always go out to the backroads and have more spirited driving.

For backroads driving a 718 is a a go-kart. The speeds it can corner at are pretty much limited by your tire budget, bravery and not much else. It’s also surprising forgiving at or beyond the limit, so even if you do push a little too hard on occasion it’s not going to try to murder you.

I’d recommend renting one on Turo for day or two if you have the opportunity. A test drive at a dealer is not going to do one of these cars justice. Just my 2c.

Also my car gets way more attention in an average parking lot than any v8 muscle car
