I got this hoping I’ll actually enjoy games I’ve had in my library for years and now I don’t even know where to start. And on top of that all the emulator options for nostalgic games and current sales for remake/remasters/GotY editions.

Pure choice paralysis. 😅

Any recommendations would be awesome. I love RPGs, things like Baldur’s Gate 3. Tried it on SD for a few hours and could not get used to the controls after putting in 200+ hours on KB/M.

XCOM 2 War of the Chosen is one of the most replayable, incredible games I’ve ever played. Getting it on deck made it so I could take it with me anywhere I wanted.

Check out Marvel Midnight Suns if you haven’t. It’s XCom but Marvel at Hogwarts. The card game. Somehow.

And it runs amazing on deck.

I grabbed Doom 2016 in the sale and I’ve been loving it on my new Deck… I think as someone who has been playing games for decades, I still can’t get over playing something that looks and plays that good in my freakin’ lap.

This is me, also. I’m 40 and so getting up there, and LOVED video games as a kid, back when they were really rudimentary.

Having lost interest in the endless cycle of CoD’s and whatever Fortnite is, and gotten over the initial ‘wow’ of VR, sitting playing a night stage on Dirt Rally 2, with its dynamic lighting flashing through the trees, and rain effects reflecting off the ground, on a bloody handheld, just blows my mind.

I really got into Control when I played it on the Steam Deck. Couldn’t get into it on my PC, but something about the handheld made it awesome.

Dragons dogma, elder ring. I’m currently going thru ds3. Tempering your anger while holding the deck is quite an experience.

It’s either. But calming down before either is more zen like than I could ever put in words, after ranting/shouting/wailing of course.

I thoroughly enjoy Baba Is You. Not because it’s improved by the controls, but because it’s a game I like to pick up for one or two levels and then put away again. Ideal for short breaks, and I just don’t play like that on my Pc.

I also quite enjoy replaying the old Lego Harry Potter games (1-4 & 5-7). Bit of nostalgia for me.

And Stardew Valley is a favourite around here for a reason.

I’m also considering picking up Cyberpunk 2077, Monster Hunter World, Hogwarts Legacy, or Marvels Spiderman Remastered. Not sure though as I’m already spending quite a bit on peripherals for my Deck, and it’s quickly becoming a very expensive hobby to maintain! And if you’re into Emulation: That whole side is awesome too. If you haven’t, check out Renegade Platinum, it’s by far my favourite Pokemon hack that remains true to the original game while also substantially improving upon it. Having a fast forward button while being on a handheld is a godsend for Pokemon too! Before that I played on a modded 2DS and while that was great too, the lack of speedup could be pretty annoying when grinding. If you’re more oldschool, Emerald Elite Redux is a hard but great romhack too!

I restarted Monster Hunter World on my new deck last night (I played about 20 hours on my laptop about a year ago and got distracted by Sunbreak and BotW on Switch, among other things), and it’s playing and looking great so far, with no tweaks from me.

I have to admit that I’m still pretty new to the Deck, but I haven’t seen a single game I had to tweak a lot before getting it running. Admittedly, I’m not playing the newest games right now, but even stuff like The Outer Worlds and Fallout 4 run great right out the box for me. I’m so happy with the Deck and how easy it is to use out of the box while also being extremely easy to mod and change. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but you can really see that Valve cared about what they were making.

Portal 2 is my fav on SD so far. Not very long, entertaining, fun puzzles, good dialogue, great with controller. Checks all the boxes for an unboxing game.

Telltale games have worked great for me on SD. I really liked all the seasons of The Walking Dead with some headphones.
