Hello, I have a p2p connection from my house to the shop that is working well, however the wifi in the shop coming off the shop router is a different name so there for requires me to connect to a different connection when I bring devices from the house to the shop. This is causing issues with my wifi cameras to not recognize the shop connection as the home base is in the house and connected to the “home” internet (shop wifi is called “shop”). Is there a way to make it all the same so that devices will recognize it all as the same wifi?
Example, my phone wifi is connected to “home” when I’m in the house, when I’m in the shop it is connected to “shop”. However it’s all connected to my Starlink internet in the house.
Change shop name to home and make sure “shop” (now home) is handing out ip in same range as the house
You can name the shop WiFi- home.
Is the shop WiFi router acting as an Access Point or a router? Best to use an access point mode if you have one.
It must be access point, the house is sending the signal, shop is receiving
The different SSID isn’t the issue.
THe issue is that you have a second router which isolates the home network from the one at your shop.
What you want is to use an access point in the shop, rather than a router. And make sure the point-to-point link is in “bridging” mode.
edit: also wifi cameras suck. You should seriously consider wired ones.
My router does not have an access point option. Can I use a dedicated network access point device in my shop? So it would be p2p from the house to shop and then a Ethernet cable from the receiver to a network access point device.
Change the shop WiFi device to Access Point mode if possible. Change its SSID (WiFi name), password, and security setting to exactly match your home setting. Then devices will roam seamlessly between home and shop.
