The price reduction was eventually why I didn’t pick the OLED version, although I’m somewhat regretting it. Then again: more money for games!

Never heard of it actually but it looks interesting! Definitely comes really close to my job haha. Might get it to get through the night playing as a director when at work playing as a director 😎.

I have the same job as you just in austria - the steam deck is a god-sent for slower night shifts but please dont play not for broadcast while you work as literally that job

when the game came out my friends wanted to play it with me to “see what my job is like” - they enjoyed it a lot but i played it once and only watched them play afterwards. IT FELT TOO MUCH LIKE WORKING

There are a few “gamey” mechanics in there that dont work like that IRL but my brain went into work mode instantly and the game stressed me out way too much - its remarkably close to the real thing

If you night tv-show nightshift game recs i recommend dave the diver and death trash - those are my former and current “its a slow shift” games

I’ve never actually played a game that resembled camerawork and directing so I do kind of wonder how my brain would respond to it, whether it kicks me right into work-mode or not. Bit like lorry drivers who play ETS2 in their spare time.

Thanks for the recommendations, will certainly check those out! :)

Lorry driving is much more relaxing than live-directing

I did enjoy the story a ton though - just not playing it. My friends still finished it and even made me play the last level “because its too hard for us” haha

I mean as a TV director you can just easily buy 100 oleds without issue.

I have the same job as him (just in a different country) - we dont earn a lot. According to statistics im a few hundred over the avarage income for my city - which isnt bad dont get me wrong but its very demanding work with all-in contracts (no paid overtime) and doesnt pay enough imo for signing your life and free time away

but the deck helped me a ton in reclaiming some gaming time

Lol I don’t think you know what TV-directors (especially ones with night shifts) make, bro

Okay sure. Maybe not 100 oleds, but definitely 10 oleds and he should be fine.

Haha BeamNG is the only game you’ll ever need. I’ve played it for years but only recently started modding in real cars. Game changer, literally

Don’t regret it dude! You got an absolute bargain. I’m sticking with my LCD for some time yet, it’s still a fantastic device. I love this thing!

Last time i tried (around febuary) beamng was totally unplayable (massive load times, missing textures, horrible pop-in), how is it now?

I’ve played around with the settings a bit and got a rather workable balance between graphics and performance. It’ll peak at 60 fps on certain bits on some maps, but it’ll usually stay put between 40-45, so it’s playable for sure but it’ll start heating up due to all the calculations its doing.

They have all been deceived, for another screen was made. One screen to rule them all.

One of my all time favorite games, beamng! Still amazes me it’s only $20 and there’s NO additional costs to the game. Great game to play on the deck, although it is pushing the limits at times.
