I mean bro is manhandling opponents and calling them “bobo” and stuff 😂. Like as a Barca fan who’s watched him my whole life, I’m not going to say he was timid his whole career, but this dude is a whole new person from the guy who lost the WC in '14.
What happened?
No he always was
I love Messi, I genuinely believe he is one of the best players to ever grace the game.
But to believe he is some humble “saint” is naïvety at best. He has always been very aggressive when he is frustrated (remember when he kicked the ball with full intensity and hit a fan point blank in stands at Saint Bernabéu? It was an extremely dick move), and it usually goes under radar because he isn’t always so much intensive as compared to his other colleagues and perhaps his rival.
Getting angry and being humble doesn’t really have anything to do with each other tho. Sure messi can get angry but he never brags about his skills. He’s humble imo but also very passionate
He tired to listen “You’re not like Maradona”. So he became a bit Maradonish now.
It’s about damn time. Camera wowo bastards
He finally developed some confidence. /s jokes aside, this is likely related to him finally leading the national team to the WC.
Bono’s pretty soft tbf
Mid-life crisis ig😂
For the “bobo” comment I’ll just say that is one of the mildest insults out there, like, thats how a child treats another child, he said it after a heated WC match so do not think that is a really heavy examole of him being unsportsmanlike.
But deciding by himself that argentina would not play, bypassing the referees, his own coach and the president of AFA was pure arrogance, I mean, I see where he’s coming and I agree that the match shouldn’t have been played with the violence happening in the stands, but you gotta communicate at least with the authorities of the match instead of making a scene
Messi has always been a prick and a poor sport, lashing out like a child at times. You just never hear about it because he’s the most overprotected player of all time and the media loves him.
I mean, just look at this thread. If it was Ronaldo who did what Messi did against Uruguay and Brasil, everyone would be shitting all over him for it. But because it’s Messi, this “makes him a could leader.” Hilarious.
Camera wowo, my pidol pio pessi is pinished👻👻 my poat
The world pushed him into this by relentlessly comparing to Maradona who “had balls and was a leader”
Look I’m not being funny, but he has been an unlikeable twat for years. He is so undeniably talented. But Messi has these moments that remind me of Maradona.
His records are based on his ability, and he didn’t need to dive, but he is a diving bastard. He’s aggressive, gets in people’s faces, harasses the ref.
Anyone not seeing it is purely in denial or simply not watching. I bet he’s not a nice person to spend time around.
well i dont think that means hes a mean person hm? i mean ppl have 2 sides game and not game. i think that intensity just shows how much he be wantin to win. not his personality.
Okay show me some videos where he dives. Messi rarely dives and is the only player I’ve seen so far that immediately gets up after a foul. Messi has his moments but compared to others he’s pretty chill.
You can say that Messi has these Maradona-esque moments that make him unlikeable for some. But how is he a diving bastard?
He’s always been like this
Full disclosure, I am a Messi Stan. I think that a lot of his outbursts are not unwarranted when you consider that he is the single most targeted player in the sport. When teams prepare for playing Messi the mantra is: “we need to make him uncomfortable”, we need to ensure that he can’t even breathe when he has the ball” etc. The mentality players develop when they play against him is that they have to sacrifice there soul to the underworld to ensure that specifically messi doesn’t embarrass the team. Players say crazy stuff to him, they grab him in inappropriate places, they come up to him randomly trying to get him off his game. I love shithouse football so this is all part of the game. But when Messi and his goon squad start to fight back everybody says “wait a minute, where is this coming from.” Messi and the squad don’t start this shit, they finish it. Messi is world champion and if he wants to brag about it when he and his family are being insulted by other players, so be it lol.
The guy has been in the zone and crushing it for years. He’s now a senior veteran of the game with a freaking massive platform. IMO he’s done a damn good job of curating his image and not saying or doing anything outrageous over his career to bring it down. Just imagine the daily pressure he’s felt all his life since joining Barcelona. He even said it himself in one of his most recent interviews that he has refrained from commenting in person or on social media his opinions of things because he knows he’ll receive backlash no matter what he says. He knows his career is coming to an end soon so he probably feels like he has a little bit more freedom now to voice his opinions when on the field or in post match press conferences.
