I genuinely think this guy has some incredible PR with the help of Chelsea fans and the media. This dude has straight up been pants since march of 2022 and is somehow still in the “best rb itw” convo “when fit/available”. Is built like a gym devotee yet has the endurance and stamina of a wet shoe box, puts in a good attacking performance every 3 to 5 BUSINESS weeks (not even an exaggeration) and defensively, well, ask Anthony F*CKING Gordon who boned him and got him sent to the showers, probably for the better.

As a Liverpool fan you’ve lost it, my guy. James is up there with Walker, TAA, and anyone else who decides to step their game up year in and out. The only one I don’t find him all-around better than is TAA and that’s partly my bias and also TAA general availability and form recently is higher.

He has struggled for a long time with injuries so that keeps him off the pitch. But in the minutes he does play he’s always stellar imo. Proper Chelsea capt, but he’s so young that the mentality isn’t always there. Skill-wise he’s a beauty but his form comes and goes

I don’t like him as a person, he seems a bit arrogant but an unbelievable player. From a Liverpool fan

I think he was world class quality when he played RWB scoring and assisting, while shutting players down. he’s just a slightly above average RB. But world class as a RWB.

He’s brilliant. One red card doesn’t change how great he’s been for the last couple years. For context I am not a Chelsea fan.

I’m a Liverpool fan and I’d say he’s England’s most complete right-back. He has pace, strength and great stamina (obviously not when he’s just come back from injury). He’s also excellent 1v1 in defense and can strike the ball as well as anyone in attack.

It’s not PR. He’s been injured and it’s no coincidence that Chelsea declined massively while he was out.

Judging players on their performances when they’ve just come back from injury is a fool’s errand.

Chelsea Fan here. I love The Fridge, but he has been overplayed and rushed back from injuries far to regularly over the past 2 and a half seasons.

When he is fit and starts on a regular basis, he is the best in the league.

Absolutely not. He’s had shocking luck with long term injuries. When he’s fit he’s the best player on the park and I’m a Leeds fan.

He reminds me of Ledley King in some ways. One of the best players in his position. Never fit

Much like Ledley he’ll never be seen as world class by fans outside of his club due to the fact he’s never available.

Whenever he starts he’s most of the time the best player on the pitch. Problem is that he’s half the time suspended or injured.
