There were some people predicting that Luton might finish the season with the lowest ever points total, and without any wins all season. Well, right now they are sitting outside of the relegation zone (thanks to Everton’s points deduction) and have 9 points. They’ve bagged their second win of the season and the first in front of their home fans. All they need is 3 more points all season to beat Derby’s record.

I decided to watch today’s game and it was certainly an entertaining one. Really pleased to see them get a result and their young English manager doing a great job. It’s gotta be especially sweeter for both Edwards and for Luton, considering that hated rivals Watford sacked him early last season (after just 11 games) and he is now doing a good job in the league above Watford having gotten Luton promoted!

Give over. It’s only a small minority of fans that act up. Every club has its share of dickheads with season tickets.

To all Luton fans: As a fellow Arsenal fan, I too congratulate Luton for the first win in their home against Crystal Palace. Hope y’all staying up. Sure, I’d be fuming if my team lost to you guys but I still hope y’all survive in the end. Your story are just incredible mate. The true rags to riches story.

This isn’t one of your American films. They’re famously quite racist and have already been caught doing homophobic and Hillsborough chants. Not to say it isn’t nice to see a team come up against the odds, but it’s not all sunshine and roses.

Of the 3 that came up, Luton look the most likely to stay up right now. At the start of the season everyone thought they were fucked and Burnley would stay. Shows what we all knew! 😅

Still a long way to go…

As John Still used was fond of saying the season we won promotion back into the EFL. “Never too high, never too low”.

My experience with people in the Prem is that they tend to focus on what’s right in front of them rather than looking at the bigger picture. A season’s “over” after one thrashing, so-and-so’s going down after three or four games. Just got to take it a week at a time.

Yeah Kompany having the Pepstink™ on him definitely gave people ideas.

The amazing win though, it’s not that rare for teams to blow away everybody in the Championship with flowing attacking football. It’s so not rare it’s called doing a Norwich.

The problem is teams don’t play that sort of football in the prem, and even if any team was to try it they would have to be incredibly good.

So when a team like Norwich or Burnley gets promoted and sticks to their tactics against teams who are fitter, faster and better drilled, they always get pumped.

I’m not going to be confident until I see them overtake Bournemouth.

Everton don’t look bad enough that ten points will be enough to keep them down.

Luton need to get into the pack, then between clearly exceptional management and Fortress Kenny they’ll be safe.

Don’t forget Swindon Town’s record for the most goals conceded in a premier league season. Think it was 1993. Don’t think Derby even beat that.

Garth Crooks is a twat. His column has always been ridiculous, but his criticisms of Luton were just imbecilic and displayed a complete ignorance of how football teams should be responsibly run, and of Luton’s specific history. The fact Luton have brought in some really good players for next to nothing should be applauded. His criticism of their financial prudence has been made all the more laughable following Everton’s points deduction.

I don’t mind him having us tipped for relegation, in a weird fucked up way I can even maybe excuse the “can’t take them seriously” comments. He’s just saying what the mainstream have been subtly implying for a while now. At least he had the balls to say it.

But the thing that got me was what he said about the stadium, about how we did the “bare minimum”, which was such a braindead and insulting thing to say that I’m surprised an editor or someone didn’t pull him up on it. Work trucks were in the day we won promotion and they were working nearly 24/7 to get it up to the Prem’s specs. That was an absolute herculean effort on the part of the club and the entire town that it’s an absolute wonder that he follows the world of football at all.

Any goodwill they have as a team is outweighed by their scumbag fan base. Fair play to them for putting up a hell of a fight but I wish nothing but misery on their fans. The sooner they go back down the better.

The individuals should be punished, banned from any football games in the UK. Luton Town fans? Plenty of us are gay or at least LGBTQ+ positive. Just because you’re feeling edgy on the Internet, doesn’t change the fact that tarring everyone with the same brush is rude.

Don’t think it’s edgy to want nothing positive for those who sing about tragedies, which wasn’t a handful or a few bad apples, not helped by the pathetic response your club put out. As reasons go for disliking a club and/or it’s fanbase it’s pretty not ‘edgy’ I reckon. In fact, I’d say it’s a pretty damn good reason for never wanting to play them again, hence the desire for their relegation. What they’ve achieved as a club is incredible, and it’s been tarnished by your fans. Embrace it, accept it, change it. Anyway crack on dismissing it and playing it down, works wonders that. Have a good one.
