I remember them being above mid table but after they beat Tottenham theyre now fourth and only 2 points off the top of the league. That means that if they didn’t lose to Nottingham forest or Everton they would be first. Ik they really haven’t had difficult match ups but it’s still very impressive.

Arguably they have been massively underperforming for almost 20 years now. They should probably have cemented themselves as a top 6 club in the early Randy Lerner days

Good Ebening. Emery is a good manager I just don’t think he had the cash at Arsenal. Happy to see him do well

Lots of good players and a good manager. The sky’s the limit if they keep spending and recruiting like they have been.

Villa definitely did not play well today but a win is a win. Emery is great at getting them to win matches they probably shouldn’t win.

Plus this is the problem with playing the way Spurs play, it’s too inconsistent. Today was the perfect example of why playing controlled and “boring” is what top teams need to do.

Spurs have 7/8 best players out.

Can we stop making this silly claims about the playstyle.

How does arsenal, Liverpool look if you just remove 7 starting outfielders?

I mean it’s really nuts how people just ignore the luck here injury wise. Romero being out is obviously on him, but south shave their top 3 cms out top 2 cbs, starting winger and more

Also to double comment: playing boring is the opposite of what top teams do whe up 1-0 against a team at home. City and Liverpool won the title by being relentless. You go for a Casio at hoe then you can sub and adjust to ease out the game. At 1-0 no top team ever should be parking the bus that’s insane

The Emery effect. Won 3 back to back Europa League trophies (including the one against us grrr) with Seville which is an amazing accomplishment in itself. Like others have said, his defensive, counter attacking style was not flashy enough for the Gunners but suits Villa just fine. Good manager. Good ebening

Since Emery arrived over a year ago, we have been on top 4 form. That’s no exaggeration.

We have roughly the 8th best squad in the league but a phenomenal manager that helps us perform better than 8th. Where we end up in the league by the end of the season depends entirely on how far we go in Europe and if we can keep key players fit.
