I know the B58 is basically bulletproof and one of the most reliable engines BMW has ever made for the most part, but how reliable are the early ones? I’m heavily considering a 2017.
I had a 2018 and I know there’s now three iterations of this engine, but I wasn’t sure how the early ones stacked up to the newer ones. Usually any early/first product has issues early on that get ironed out over time. TIA!
I got a 17 240 only ever engine issue ive had was low coolant once.
The cap leaks vapor when super hot. Very very slowly though.
I have a 2016 340i. I’ve only had minor issues common to all f30’s.
The PCV which is a $20-30 part and takes 10 minutes to fix AND just qualified for a 10-year, 150,000 mile warranty (fact check me dates and mileage) but to answer your question, no they’re amazing. Source: 65,000 miles in.
