I have been wondering this question ever since I got my electric scooter (Volta 401) and I plan to upgrade it’s motor to 3000w from the original 1500w version. And since the wheel had the same configuration on the front and back I don’t see the reason to put another motor in the back and put the old one in the front. I put my ideas based on dual motor configuration for e bike where each motor have it’s own controller and connected on 1 throttle. Is there a reason why this might not work?

Ever leave your truck in 4 wheel drive and try to turn a corner? You can get some odd handling characteristics.

That said, I’d take a 2wd mountain bike for trail use in a heartbeat. Although 2 motors is a weight penalty. The off road e-bike market has been shifting from high powered heavy bikes to mid powered lighter weight bikes.

The speeds of each wheel need to be controlled precisely. So two separate controllers or motors might not work well if you just hook up two different motors.

You need front wheel drive with both a left and a right front tire contact patch to induce torque steer.

A contraption having these traits would be called a “tricycle”.

(could be called a “tadpole”, except tadpoles have a single rear drive wheel)

You also need unequal length driveshafts to induce torque steer. The absence of any driveshafts will lead to the absence of torque steer.

Why do motorcycle or electric motor cycle/scooter don’t have dual motor option even though dual motor e-bike exist?

    Price.

I put my ideas based on dual motor configuration for e bike where each motor have it’s own controller and connected on 1 throttle. Is there a reason why this might not work?

They make controllers designed for dual motors that would work better. Sometimes two controllers play well together but not always.

2 different motors without a self learning dual motor controller complicates things. You’d be better off with 2 identical motors if you go the 2 controller route.
