Space Karen doesn’t like hybrids and wants to speak to the manager
Amazing how many people in this thread think power comes from batteries.
This is happening to almost all EVs not just Tesla. In fact, regular gas guzzlers are being sold at a higher rate than EVs or Hybrids.
Toyota sales have always been high tho… hard to say chicken or egg.
Yeah because the hybrids are affordable.
What’s Elon’s opinion of another company’s model matter?
Love my new toyota crown, has power and good milage
Toyota is selling more cars than last year. Also if you buy the higher trim, it comes with a hybrid engine.
I went from a 2012 Honda Civic to a 2021 Honda Insight Hyrbid and honestly I’m still paying about the same at the pump. I filled up my Civic once a week and I fill this Insight up once a week so the hybrid model really didn’t save me much it feels like
Musk knows fuck all
Can you tell me about the business model of electric vehicle charging stations in the United States? In Japan, the number of charging stations exploded from around 2010, but it has been declining since 2020. The reason is that most owners do not want to continue operating charging stations, even with investment in new chargers, due to the aging of chargers. In other words, it is said that “charging stations are not profitable at all.” ChargePoint in the United States is also reported to have fallen by more than 90% from its peak, and its earnings for the current quarter were also poor. What about other electric vehicle charging station operators?
EV battery technology always leaks into hybrids making them even better. Why have a massive battery to achieve a 300 mile EV range when you can have a small battery and get 30 mile EV range and for trips longer than that the engine is used.
You can charge overnight the 30 miles range with a basic charger and 30 miles is enough for 90% of the time.
Tesla had a golden opportunity to establish long term dominance with their EV head start, but they squandered it with dumb decisions like trying to pack every car with as many features as possible instead of building the widest charging infrastructure possible and zeroing in on making cheap EVs for everyone. But that would get in the way of short term profits. I absolutely hate American corporate culture because it’s just companies shooting themselves in the foot one after another just to please investors.
Tesla has the largest charging infrastructure by a wide margin. And they don’t go for short term profits over long term gains, it’s the opposite in fact. Tesla plays the long game
when has toyota sales ever sucked?
I am glad i chose hybrid instead of EV, specially in cold winter conditions you just cant rely only of one energy source. Having Hybrid gives me best of both world.
Eh, I don’t think so, being from Alaska and having only two teslas in the household (X and 3 LR) they do great in the cold. The charging infrastructure sure could be better, but this is mostly just a mental block rather than an actual issue for people in cold climates.
I think the best way to have an EV is as a second household car. For example, a couple that needs 2 cars. Having one gas/hybrid and one EV works perfectly in my opinion. Having only EVs just feel is a bad idea unless you live in a place with a lot of chargers available (which i don’t, south Louisiana).
Long vs shot distance. EV is a golf cart in the winter.
Again, i live in south louisiana. Our winters are 32° on the worst days, and on those days everything shuts down. Also, thats when the gas car comes into play.
I just use my bolt to commute and the wife uses a navigator for the road trips and kiddos or in case of emergencies.
Even then, you’d want the electric only as a gimmick/hobby vehicle. A toyota hybrid is just economical in every way imaginable from manufacturing, to running it on the daily.
I agree. The EV would be a great second vehicle. Personally, i own and drive a 2023 CR-V hybrid and i love it. I cant even imagine how annoying it would be owning an EV only right now.
It’s kind of the opposite. The EV is our primary car & the PHEV is the summer road trip vehicle.
Or just get a plug-in prime and have the best of both worlds in one car? 😂
We went below freezing this week and I’m really feeling my first winter with an EV. My car has consumed 34% more energy on my regular commute this week compared to a few weeks ago
That’s very interesting to hear, thanks for sharing. I’d rather be in a 90s shit box in freezing temps than an EV it sounds like
Thanks for sharing. That’s one of that pain points, Be in Winter, Off road or any other extreme conditions, EV is still has long way to develop the tech
I like having a plug in hybrid. I haven’t purchased gas since the first weekend in October.
Also you won’t have heat in a EV unless it has a radiator.
