Skyline has always been a sedan. But I wonder why they would need another crossover when the Aryia is right there.
About time. Looking forward to it. I hope it changes hearts and minds in Japan when an iconic car like this goes all electric.
I don’t trust Nissan to bring anything worthwhile to market.
I hope they can get the EV motor calibration better this time.
I think the Ayria was better than what Toyota provided but it seems like they had long since fired anyone that knew how to make the Leaf such a utilitarian vehicle.
The Skyline has always been a sedan and recently, a cross over. Up until the late 80s it was sold as such in New Zealand and Japan before it was discontinued in those regions - our family car for a while was a 1988 Skyline TI. It kept on going in Japan though, with the more recent Skyline models being known as the Infiniti G35/37 in the States. Since New Zealand imports a lot of used Japanese vehicles, I had a four door 2012 Skyline GT (AWD variant) until I replaced it with a Model 3.
I think when those in the US hear “Skyline” they think of the GTR, which was always the performance variant of the Skyline range.
The point of having car like this was so you can go really fast really quickly. At this point with all electric vehicles going to zero 60 in three seconds anyways why would you want this?
How could they? What a stupid move.
I’m fine with this but I think to wear that badge it needs a minimum of 750hp.
Um, the base model of the most famous R34 skyline was a 153 hp sedan…
R34 skyline
The one from 25 years ago? When Clinton was in the white house? Yes, times have changed a little. A 1998 M3 had 240 horsepower.
A new M3 has 500bhp. By your logic this skyline should have 413bhp.
And the BMW 3-Series had a base model with like 118hp!
People might rip on this but as an almost 40 year old parent, an ev skyline suv is exactly in my wheelhouse.
How to say you don‘t know shit about Nissans without saying you don‘t know shit about Nissan in a single headline.
A basic sedan will morph into a basic electric sedan … wow
Glad someone said it. The Skyline was a boring family car folks. It just also had a Godzilla model. Shipping it as a cool EV sedan feels pretty on brand. Just make it way fast.
As long as they call it the SkylineCross, I’m all in.
Nissan skyaryia.
Sounds complicated.
I think a Skyline is the right type of car for electrification. It’s not actually known for its speed but its handling and it’s usually already a heavy vehicle. I hate the SUVivication of everything though. This is definitely a good move for Nissan overall.
I admit that an EV Skyline sedan has a certain appeal to my mind, at least in theory.
Cannot wait for this, come on Nissan!
