Well, the union claims they put 130 mechanics who are part of their union on strike. I don’t know exactly how it works in Sweden, but I can’t imagine they can call for non-members to strike. I would also say that being a union member means they want a union.

What are you talking about? GM and Ford both have multiple battery factories planned in the US. Most manufacturers are planning their own battery production.
Okay, so since this thing exists, it must be extremely common everywhere, and you’re going to deny the experiences of anyone who isn’t you. Way to be a closed-minded jackass. I don’t mountain bike a ton anymore, but I used to a ton as a kid. I can tell you my dad would have grounded me for a month if I just tried to throw my bike halfway over the tailgate because it would scratch the shit out of the truck without one of these, and I don’t see why this would be necessary when you can just throw the bike in the bed.
I’ve put bikes in a truck tons of times, and I’ve literally never done that.
Transforming mobility, in general, is a conversation that is extremely worthwhile and needs to be had. The US’s car-centric nature is bad in a plethora of ways that aren’t at all limited to greenhouse gas emissions. I could just as easily claim that trying to sweep the conversation under the rug is straight out of the auto manufacturers’ playbook, and as far as I see it, that is far truer than your claim.
It sounds like your needs are extreme. I live in Florida and commonly end up without power for about a week after hurricanes. The F150 lighting could cover my peak draw and could cover my average usage in summer for at least four days on a single charge. If I tried to cut down at all, it could probably hit nearly a week. Why would I want to spend more to burn gas that costs more to use a generator? Why would I pay a bunch of money for a home battery when I need it rarely and have what I need in my car? For me it’s by far the cheapest and best solution.
