Tesla claims a lot of things
The bed can barely hold a bicycle, the panel gaps are atrocious, it can barely handle gravel roads and it’s released more than a year after the far superior Ford F150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T. Way to go.
this argument is so fucking stupid lmao. anyone who has ever owned a mountain bike and a pickup truck knows that you throw the front tire over the gate
I’ve put bikes in a truck tons of times, and I’ve literally never done that.
https://www.thule.com/en-us/bike-rack/truck-bed-bike-racks/thule-gatemate-pro-_-824pro
ever see a pad on the tailgate of a truck? that’s literally what it’s for. thule/dakine/similar all make the same thing for exactly this purpose
love the downvotes from people who clearly don’t mountain bike but aight
Okay, so since this thing exists, it must be extremely common everywhere, and you’re going to deny the experiences of anyone who isn’t you. Way to be a closed-minded jackass. I don’t mountain bike a ton anymore, but I used to a ton as a kid. I can tell you my dad would have grounded me for a month if I just tried to throw my bike halfway over the tailgate because it would scratch the shit out of the truck without one of these, and I don’t see why this would be necessary when you can just throw the bike in the bed.
I’ve owned a compact van and a mountain bike. I could easily fit it I side the trunk of the van.
Bed is longer than Lightning, panel gaps look good on the latest ones (and Lightning panel gaps are nothing to write home about, anyway), it will have far superior software, better max charge rate, better infrastructure, more payload, more tow capacity, etc.
Lightning has pros, too, like bigger back seat, bigger frunk, more service centers, etc., but “far superior” is going to be use case specific, at best.
Just gotta wait till it comes out to see like any other car
When stallantis pips you by 4000 lbs maybe hang it up Elon.
Ramcharger will tow 14000 pounds. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45758306/2025-ram-1500-ramcharger-towing/
The tesla semi can do 40k lbs, who’s laughing now?
Oh it’s a completely different vehicle? Yeah, so is an ICE truck vs fully electric. If someone wants an electric truck, they aren’t buying an ICE
Ramcharger is electric.
It’s literally plug in hybrid, it has a damn 3.6 litre V6 engine that they call ”generator”. It has like 100 kwh battery and that only does 145 miles or so range lol. Itms the worst thing ever.
If the engine is not powering the drive train then it’s a generator.
It’s got a bigger battery than almost every other EV, almost as big as the Lightning’s base pack. It has the same range as a base model Nissan Leaf.
Downvote all you want, but the Ramcharger is definitely an EV. Packaging in the Pentastar V6 as a generator is an interesting idea, and might well bring in a bunch of new owners that wouldn’t be interested in the limited range of other full size electric pickups. It’s a hybrid. It has an ICE. Someone wanting an electric truck isn’t going to buy it. Someone who wants a hybrid will.
I want an electric truck and I’m probably going to buy it
Someone wanting an electric truck isn’t going to buy it. Someone who wants a hybrid will.
Cross shoppers exist. Some may consider an ICE, BEV, or Hybrid powertrain depending on their needs, specs, price.
I want an electric truck and I’m going to buy the ramcharger
40k lbs? Where did you see that? I’d hope that isn’t correct as Ford SuperDutys and Silverado HDs can tow near that weight.
None of these vehicles will be towing anywhere near their “tow rating.” I get that this sub is mostly not car peole, so I understand the confusion.
You nearly always run out of payload and axle capacity way before you run out of pulling capacity. The “tow rating” is just for magazing racing.
2,500 pounds and half a mountain bike.
A yes, because famously, everybody drives 600 miles without a stop, uphill both ways, with a giant trailer hitched, carrying around half a barn, and every “car” needs to be able to do that.
Tesla specs are always best in the five years after the promised delivery date but before the first actual delivery. As soon as the truck gets into the hands of objective reviewers, we’ll get the real story. Just a few more years and we’ll know. Maybe by 2025?
Speaking of lifting heavy loads, the word “claims” is doing a lot of work there.
It’s just so ugly looking. Can’t get past that.
That’s nothing. The official website says it can tow near infinite mass.
https://www.tesla.com/cybertruck
I’m actually amazed they left this up after it became a meme forever ago.
You laugh, but when a black hole comes to destroy us all it will be Elon who will board the starship with a cybertruck to tow the black hole away.
I’m just waiting for any youtuber to test the Cybertruck alongside the Rivian and F150 Lightining.
I’m specifically waiting for Out of Spec. I think he does the best comparisons.
For trucks, it’s tflev.
Kyle is great, but those guys are truck guys who REALLY know how to torture them.
The Roosevelt Pass.
Eisenhower*…. Aka “Ike”
So if we divide that by a Musk, we’re talking 1000/5000 lbs in real life.
ten tons of ugly tho
She haunchy.
So? Functionality is more important when it comes to trucks.
Waiting for the fully loaded drag race. /s
Waiting for the fully loaded drag race.
And waiting…and waiting… 😉
