My friend and I collect old video games. But all my physical media just sits on my shelves and collects dust. Why do I even collect them? I literally just emulate everything. Is there a purpose to what I do? People ask me why I collect and I never have a real answer because I don’t even know. If I never play my stuff, is it worth just selling?

There will come a day where emulation becomes very rare and difficult (and possibly even illegal. You never know what strings these jackasses will pull in the future). Physical media is the best. I have a ton of games and I keep adding to the collection. I also hardly ever buy digital games

I have hard time seeing how emulation could become difficult or rare, they can’t get rid of what is already there. On the contrary, I feel it will continue to become more easy and widespread. It also kinda is illegal already, atleast the way most are using it.
