People like you ruin football. If you can’t get a ticket to an away game as an away supporter then you shouldn’t go, it’s not that complicated, you’re essentially stealing seats from home supporters and providing no atmosphere because you have to sit in silence the whole game. Fuck you.

You’re not supposed to, but especially with United away games for example you’ll find there’s plenty of reds in among the home fans. It’s not technically allowed, it’s definitely not safe, but people do it all the time. I’ve done it a few times, I expect other fans of big clubs do it.

Bottom line is don’t be a dick and don’t get caught, because there are plenty of parts of plenty of grounds where you’ll wish the stewards threw you out if you get caught by the home fans.

I mean they won’t kill you or anything but you might get a bunch of locals dogpile on you and give you a shoeing. I’ve seen a few in my time but you really have to do something idiotic like celebrating a goal to provoke a violent reaction.

It is a bit brazen and home fans don’t like it. I’m guessing that OP is a big six fan that ‘only lives round the corner’ and wouldn’t have a hope in hell of getting an away ticket without points or even a season ticket to put them on.

Perverting the system is what pisses people off, especially when the majority of away fans generated their points by going to Carling cup matches away at Scunthorpe in '92. I’ve had friends supporting the away team (Crystal Palace) come to a Millwall game and it was totally fine.

As a gunner living up north I’ve seen the majority of matches away.

Current premier league teams.

Liverpool Everton Man city (maybe not so much now) Aston villa Newcastle (probably not anymore) Sheffield United

Past teams:

Sunderland Wigan (best atmosphere as an away fan sat in home stands) Bolton Birmingham Middlesbrough Blackpool Blackburn

Avoid:

Man u Leeds Stoke Hull Derby Sheffield Wednesday

I once went to Fulham with an American relative quite well versed in football and knowing full well he shouldn’t cheer an away goal, but he did anyway - being in a quieter part of the ground he got a bit of verbal abuse and nothing much more. Later on Fulham equalised and people swarmed over to celebrate with in his face, but by then he had decided to celebrate Fulham’s goal as well and was jumping about like a lunatic. Cue much confusion among the home fans and I think everyone just thought he wasn’t all there and left him alone after that.

I’ve done it at Bolton and Wigan. You’ll have to enjoy the game entirely differently than you would if you were sitting with the away supporters. Don’t wear any Arsenal merch, don’t celebrate anything for Arsenal. Keep your disappointments to yourself. Be neutral if the home side celebrates.

People keep referring to violence. It isn’t the 80s anymore, unless it is a high profile game between two big rivals or you go out of your way to rile and antagonise you’re unlikely to get anything other than a few verbals. It’s highly unlikely you’re going to get filled in as an American Liverpool fan sitting in the Fulham end or whatever.

But just don’t do it. It’s a shit, dickhead move, especially if you’re wearing colours and actively supporting the away team.

If you do do it then we least be respectful.

I mean why would you do this anyway? Never made sense to me. You miss out on so much of the match day experience by not being with your fans and having to put on an act. Just watch it on TV and save yourself the money and aggro.
