    I wouldn’t own an Android given any other choice. If the government has an Apple-supplied backdoor into my phone, there’s no point in not just using a Nokia flip phone. Anything I need to communicate privately in that case would be, as you suggest, locally encrypted before sending or passed as samizdat on physical media.
