1 full week now into having my OLED LD. Previously sold my LCD.

Assuming one buys a Steam Deck because of daily responsibilities and life alone. Then consider the total time you would spend on the deck. After a long day of work. The few hours left after kids asleep. The few hours after partners content.

You deserve the superior OLED screen considering this is likely a full time substitute of a PS5/PC

Gaming experience and speed is far superior and noticeable than LCD

Heat and fan noise is reduced compared to LCD

Battery is superior and so important considering we primarily bought this for the purpose of mobility.

We’re all going to die one day.

You deserve the OLED! Don’t buy LCD as first timer. LCD remnants, seriously consider it!

I justified by, well, $600 (including tax), and if I spend 200 hours on it, that’s $3 an hr.

So I received my OLED and in comparison to my old LCD model the screen itself is not much better, it’s alright, but it’s not much difference vs LCD, especially for 200 euro more than LCD model. The battery life is a great QOL change, that I would gladly pay ~50 euro to get. Regardless I returned my OLED and I’m staying with LCD till Steam Deck 2.0.

Deserve? What an odd choice of words.

No, I don’t think I deserve an oled any more than i deserve a ferrari. A steam deck, even the lcd version, is a luxury item for people who have money to spare.

Ill get one eventually. But the lcd model does everything i need it to, and its still “new” feeling to me. Maybe ill wait like i have been with the switch 2 for a steam deck 2 lol. My original switch doesnt run very good anymore though… lol

As another comment stated, these posts seem like an ad. I legit looked for the “Sponsored” tag and couldn’t find it. It’s that good

Selling my LCD Deck and buying an OLED wouldn’t actually change anything for me. I would still use it in the same places, at the same times, to play the same games. Even the battery isn’t a big concern for me because, between wall outlets and an external battery pack, I never actually drain mine.

You got an OLED and are blown away by the improvements? That’s great, good for you. But it feels a little insulting to be told the LCD model is old hat when it totally isn’t.

Plus I’ve already sunk some money into to my Deck and would rather keep my upgrades intact.

We are not the same. I occasionally play my SD while my daughter decides she wants to play by herself. Meanwhile I’m just on my couch next to the charger. Works exactly as I need it to.

The screen is everything for me, the graphics just look nicer on it and even at the same res the image is more pleasing. Besides that the longer battery life is amazing.
