A couple of years ago my 2008 Nissan Versa (140,000 miles) began to rattle and shiver while idling.
The rattle will get worse and worse until the car cuts off entirely. This happens at stop signs or stop lights frequently. Then I need to restart the car. Not great.
I’ve taken it to three different mechanics and they can’t figure it out even when the rattle and cutoff happens while they’re working in the car.
A lot has been done with no success. Weirdly a couple of things have actually stopped the rattle, but it always comes back. In a day or weeks.
Cleaned the intake filter. Problem solved for a few days.
Replaced the spark plugs (they were supposedly faulty). Problem solved for a couple of weeks.
Can’t figure out the issue and losing my mind. Any thoughts?
