“We shouldn’t have to gather on a rainy day in Pennsylvania to talk about antisemitism, but we must,” Senator Casey said. “We gather to call out and condemn the evil, the horrific evil of antisemitism.”

Israel could put Nazi gas chambers in Gaza and they would still chime the bells of antisemitism. They have killed more than 10 Palestinians for every Jew that was killed in their attack that was the direct result of prejudiced containment and abusive practices. They are just getting started killing Palestinians. I’m just a white atheist from the States and it is plain as day to see. Using antisemitic rhetoric here invalidates the term entirely. What is happening in Gaza is genocide. It is the very thing the Nazis were doing; racial extermination. The way Palestine has been treated is concentration camps. The modern state of Israel is no better than what the Nazis were doing prior to the gas chambers. Attempting to pushed Palestinians into the Egyptian desert is the same as Nazi gas chambers. People using the term antisemitic about this genocide are criminals.

So it should be okay to target Jewish students in Pennsylvania with harassment and call for the genocide of Jews because of what the government of Israel is doing?

      Cool, cool, cool.

What a sealion reply. Nothing in the comment you replied to suggests that.

As if this comment being responded to had an actual reply to the article. This article is clearly about Pennsylvania and it’s University politics. Yet the comment is talking about the war and international politics only. OP is giving the commenter more credit than maybe they deserve by pretending they were engaging with the content of the posted article.

Thank you. The article is about students having a hard time and being targeted with harassment and abuse. The top comment focused on condemning a war happening thousands of miles away.

            That is incredibly insensitive.

Then someone will respond that the insensitivity is technically not against the rules, since it is technically connected to the topic.

I just checked the sidebar, top level comments are not required to be directly related to get article text.

The comment is on topic, and OPs reply is clearly bait to start a fight

this is so much more complicated than antisemitism in pennsylvania. obviously it’s wrong to target someone for their religion, or nationality, or whatever. this is so skewed awry.

fuckin idiots very far away from whatever want to kill each other; billions of dollars at stake. that’s the story.

don’t let the lunatic nationalists from their various corners distract you.

Did you read the article. This comment doesn’t even attempt to engage with the content of the article. OP response is pointing that out, the commenter didn’t read the article and is just arbitrarily expressing their POV.

I think the problem is that Jews are behaving identically to Nazis during the Holocaust, so crying ‘antisemitism’ is hypocritical.

Just replace the Nazi’s “Jewish Question” with Zionist’s “Palestinian Question.”

This is what religious nationalism gets you.

Lumping all Jewish people in with Israel is just perpetuating the cycle of violence on more people who don’t deserve it just like the IDF is brutally punishing all of Palestine for the actions of a small number of them.

Can someone explain why faculty view this as an academic freedom issue when this seems like a student code of conduct and administrative issue at heart?

These days I can’t see anymore which of the two antisemitisms they talk about. And if I were to dare ask, it’d be a can of worms…

They managed to equate the two. “Genocide is bad” is now antisemitic apparently. The irony is strong here.

When are the masses going to realise that, “antisemitism” Covers more than just the genocidal Israelis. That word gets thrown around so much and most only consider, “Jews”

Any how, this victimhood fetish is so overplayed and worn out.
