An inflatable jumping castle that claimed the lives of six Tasmanian primary school children after becoming airborne in 2021 was only secured at half its anchor points, a court document alleges.
Really makes me wonder about all the silly corners cut every day. I wonder if heavy winds were on the forecast. That event is going to haunt everyone, I can’t imagine the grief the teachers must feel, let alone the parents.
Yeah. I think it’s just a failure to realise the potential risk.
Like if anyone there on the day had known there was even a remote potential for 6 kids to die from an accident involving an inflatable castle then obviously things would’ve been done very, very differently.
I guess people just thought you anchored it so it didn’t move too much when the kids jumped without any real understanding that the thing might just fly away.
It’s a tragedy to be sure. I’m glad that safety is taken seriously here. The company does need to be held responsible but I’m not sure what punitive measures are appropriate.
Well that’s going into the nightmare folder.
